This is one of my favorite times of the year. I know a lot of states out there are strict on fireworks for us consumers, but here in Indiana it's pyro heaven---not year round though.
I always get a bunch of fireworks. I love it!

Maryland is one of the crappy states for pyro. We can only buy dumb stuff like the "glitter shows" and "squealers" and stuff. We can cross the line to VA and get better stuff though. One of my friends drove to FL and back for the Daytona 500 this year and I believe he made a stop in South Carolina for some supplies. ;D "Celebrate your country's independence by blowing up a small part of it." - Apu Nahasapeemapetilon Just don't be this guy...

We make the round trip to TN for the fun stuff. Hot glue gun, lots of fuse. Big plywood floating fireworks display. One year, long long ago, we set up a board for the neighborhood to watch, the dog ( he was part pitbull, and very stuborn ) escaped from the house and attacked the fireworks, which caused something to go more wrong and set them all off at once...LOL, too bad we didn't have video and youtube back then. The dog was fine (he must have been a good dodger ), and he was very proud of himself for killing the exploding monster. :zap:

When I was a kid we could get real cherry bombs and M-80s. They would flatten a metal 1 gal. paint can. The M-80s had a wax coated fuse and would explode underwater. By weighting them down you could 'fish' with them. I remember building a giant firecracker 'bomb' out of over a hundred firecrackers when a firecracker was a firecracker. The fuse was a little short and I probably only got 10 ft. away from it when it went off. I felt the pressure wave from that one against my back and it left my ears ringing. I had a few of those 'real' firecrackers go off in or near my hand. The inert or unexploded powder would embed itself in your hand. It would throb and sting and burn for hours.

We make the round trip to TN for the fun stuff. Hot glue gun, lots of fuse. My sister and grandparents used to live in Walworth, Wisconsin(just near the Illinois border, NW of Chicago). My uncle lives in Lake Geneva. Anyway, she always said how they'd watch for people taking fireworks to there. I guess they were pretty strict about it where she lived. I can imagine that dog story---they totally hate fireworks... lol..

Yea, that dog was afraid of fireworks for the first year of his life, shake and jump in my lap. We got him chasing bottle rockets, he hated those bottle rockets. That whole display going off was too much to resist :scared: Imagine snapping growling barking, and me unable to get close enough to grab him. Of course he couldn't hear me either, Dog lived to be 16.

Back in 1967 when I was a kid living in North Carolina, me,my brother and little sister were setting off M-80's in a hollow log and caught 30 acres of forest on fire. It had been logged for the more mature pines and there was dry deadfall all over the place. I haven't messed with firecrackers since then. We didn't get caught but did receive some pretty fierce speculation from the community.

I love fireworks too. They sell them here in South Korea Year round in the toy department of most department stores or at convienience stores. Just bottle rockets, roman candles, and jumping jacks. They have some great jumping jacks with wings. they actually take off and fly about 30 feet.

I really miss the semi-old jumping jacks(without-wings) that actually spun around on the ground--- and a few always, always would get off the ground a bit. Now half of them just sit there and spark. LOL. They do have the super, jumbo kind that fly(without wings) but it's not the same firecracker type pack---just singles, if you know what I mean.
