I picked up another repair today. The guy just dropped off a Hyosung SF50, im pretty sure thats what it is anyway. When i spoke with the guy on the phone last night he told me he didnt know what kind it was. lol, so all i know in the 30min of having it here is that is is a Hyosung 2T with what appears to be the same motor as my uncles Kymco Cobra but im not positive on what motor it is either . LMAO! guess im gonna have to do some research on more than just Minarelli motors if i wanna keep helping other stooterists out with repairs. I can tell by looking at it quality is pretty good. This poor guy that owns it said it would top out at 37mph and sucked gas . Im guessing it hasnt even been de-restricted and needs a tune-up bad, and or both. He said it just wouldnt start for him the other day...Here it is, im gonna go start looking at it. Any help would be great

Not sure. I did find this while doing a search though Hyosung Prima Service ManualYou probably already know this since your uncle has one, but if not this could be useful info...
"On a KYMCO you need to pruchase a new variator drive boss "Collar" that has no ridge, yours has a ridge on it.
Once you've replaced the collar, then you can disconnect the green wire(rev limiter) on the CDI unit, but don't do it while the factory collar is in there, you'll over rev the motor."Looks like the engine in the Cobra, nut when I looked it up on scooter-attack the Kymco and the Hyosung SF50 didn't have the same cylinders available. That may not mean anything though. Sorry, I'm not versed in other scooter engines either. I've only worked on the minarelli, gy6 50, gy6 150, and xr50 clone types.

You and i think alike, first i did u-tube to match it up with one just like it, got the model (its a SF50 Racer), then looked at scooter-attack to try to figure out the motor and noticed the part #,s are different for cylinders. im not sure they even offer one for it? After checking out the motor more i found it to be a Morini style, so now at least i know what im getting parts for if he needs em.?. BTW- if you get a scooter repair dropped off early in the morning before your awake, make sure to leave yourself a note to get the keys from the owner lol!!!!! Thanks

Thanks for the Kymco info, i didnt know that...Man, if it can go faster than 55-60mph with 49cc,s im screwed if i wanna keep up. I havent looked for many Perf parts for uncles scooter cause he is on a tight budget now. I did look a bit and he has a Piaggio motor in his. Takes off slow but has great top end.

Well i got the Hyosung running last night . It had a small tear in the vac line for the fuel pump, so i replaced that and made sure it worked and i must say, these little pumps work good. The gas tank is in the floor so it has to pump the fuel up to the carb. After fixing that and a new spark plug it fired right up. Runs good for a neglected 49cc. Takes off pretty well but hit 35mph and felt like a rev limiter kicked in, or the air filter is dirty and not letting enough air in. Im leaner more towards a rev limiter because it hits like clockwork @35. It hhhmmm,s right up to 35 good and is still pulling good, then it goes bbbbbhhhhuuuuhhhh, lol sound is hard to explain. I talked to the owner and he was happy to hear its running and was a simple fix. I said the 37mph top speed might be topped with the simple snip of a wire and he liked hearing that. He said he needs the scooter back for this weekend, but next p-check he is going to bring it back for a GOOD tune-up and a CVT tuning. I am sure it will be a 50mph+ 49cc when its tuned proper. I charged him $25 for the little work im doing, and threw in my old battery (thats still ok for now) for free, and some other little stuff to sweeten the deal. He seems happy

Nice. The little freebies will kepp people coming back. I give breaks on labor and note it on a bill. "2hrs labor, reduced to 1.5" or somehting like that. They don;t know you're giving them a break if you don't tell them becaue a lot of people seem to have no idea what it takes or what time it takes to do a lot of jobs. I'm not even sure how long it takes me to do stuff, never timed myself before messing with other people's scoots. lol

It turned out to be a rev limiter in the CDI keepn this puppy back. All i did was cut a wire and no BS it went from a 37mph top speed to 50mph tucked. If that doesnt please an owner for $25 than this guy is impossible. I am waiting for him to get here to pick it up. I havent even told him it will do 50 now, im just tell him to take it for a ride, that should do all the talking.

lol, no kiddn step. What do you think of the Hyosung scoots? I was pretty impressed with a stock(i mean STOCK) 49cc hittn 50mph with a clip of a wire. It road very well also, comfy to ride with the way the seat is cut low on them.

They're good scoots. Right up there with Kymco and Sym. That MZ you got there ain't bad either. Saw your wheelies. That is pretty impressive.

Did you ever figure out what type of engine? I know I couldn't figure out what kind of engine was in my Super 9 and some guys on Yahoo Super 9 group told me it was Kymco's own design based loosely on a Honda Dio engine. My old Daelim S Five had a similiar engine although a little different. I know Hyosung and Daelim are both Korean scooter companies and both are top quality. I regret the day I ever got rid of my Daelim. It was every bit as good quality wise as my Kymco. Luckily my Super 9 was already de-restricted when I got it although I found out a cheap way to add another 4 mph too it yesterday. One of the guys on the Yahoo group said that if I couldn't afford a pipe right now to crush the 2 small pipes flat running into the header pipe. They are part of some useless emissions BS. In NC we don't have to get anything under 50cc inspected so it wasn't an issue to do it. It actually worked giving me an extra 4 to 5 mph.

Yea, its a Morini style. Cool you got 5mph out of pinching off your egr tubes. Damn emission shtuff, you think it would plug a 2t up quick If your 9,s motor is the same as my uncles 01 A/C Cobra i think its a Piaggio motor. Im not positive though. I just figured that by comparing motors with exploded diagrams of different styles in my scooter-attack catalog . Sounds lame but i think im right.?. Im like a kid lol, "just let me look at the pictures "
