So we ended up getting the 150cc GY6 running strong, besides a few bogs on WOT - presumably from water in the gas. It started to go away after running a few tanks through, but it was still happening.
My dad took the scooter out a few weeks ago and the belt snapped on him. We got the belt replaced, and at the same time we put on an open filter (I know, bad idea without upjetting) and he, for some unknown reason, thought it would be a good idea to put a fuel additive (octane booster) to the tank. After getting it started (which was a pain cause the starter was bad - got it replaced for only $35 ) we noticed a horrible bog. Almost to the point where you couldn't really give it any gas. After draining the gas, putting the stock filter back on, cleaning the carb twice, redoing the valve adjustment, even thought it was perfect before, and checking the mixture by choking the intake (I thought it was running lean, but choking the intake didn't help) we are lost. The only thing that has seemed to help a tiny amount was to change the oil. We changed the oil and now he can get about 45-50mph without full throttle. It was getting 60-70mph before. Went for a nice long ride today probably about 25 miles all around town. Started and stopped both engines multiple times - and his always starts on the first blip of the throttle.
We are thinking a cracked diaphragm - since it's only a bog after a certain amount of throttle. It's that or it's running lean, but I don't understand how it would be running lean. Everything is back to the way it was when it was running decent speeds before the belt snapped. He put the stock filter back on, checked the mix screw, and cleaned out the main jet more than once.
Searched Partsforscooters.com, Partsforchinesescooters.com, Google Shopping, eBay, and just about every other link for the diaphragm with no luck.
Wondering if you guys knew of a good place to pick up these Keihnin CVK 30mm(I think) stock 150cc GY6 carb diaphragms?
It really is a lot more fun when you have a riding buddy. Gotta get this 150 cruising well again.
