Ace,from looking at the pic,you should put your $'s toward a simple setup!A Sigma bicycle speedo,Trail tech tach and water temp would be cheap..Carb it,pipe it and enjoy!Check the crank bearings like Kevin said also!!

I am considering going to the carb but I am confused on the spark aspect If I eliminate the ecu? I can figure out the carb part but the electrical is what's throwing me...

I guess my question is how do I get spark without the key? If my understanding is correct, I need to buy a new transponder key and lock set and ecu to match to even get spark from this thing? And after that it still needs the digital speedo to run because its connected to the ecu? Maybe I should consider parting it out?

Around $350 to convert to carburetor. You'll loose your wonderful electrical oil pump in the way. The compressor is between the intake mani and the wheel (the kind of metal circle). Your kill switch is a common problem. Don't pay $200 for it just jump the wires together or put a switch you buy at auto parts store. They aren't fired by a CDI-coil combo so fire is not a problem on those. They eat spark plugs a lot through... I have the tip for this if you decide to keep it. For engine parts, get euro-spec parts, I think it's model before 2004-2005 for Morini. WAY better quality and low prices because dealers are stuck with those parts. I took lots of parts from an english aprilia retailer who may have some parts you need for decent price. Yes they are expensive but they costs nothing to run and are also stable at high speed (60-70mph+). What I'll do at your place: I'd get a malossi big bore kit which comes with ECU without transponder feature (anyway, these make a service light all the time with the digi dash because of this) and they come with injection o-rings, I'd get some decent crankshaft bearings and seals. No need of the digi-dash, no need of transponder key. I might be able to get a good price on one of these...
P.s. your rear shock is one-of-a-kind, expensive&now rare aftermarket unit...
For fairings... well... it's a little bit tricky. Try to find some used ones (look for broken tabs they are prone to break easily). Maybe my friend is parting out his SR50 which is the same as yours (NOT the one on my post), fairings are a bit dull but his engine's dead.

Sweet! I think I see light at the end I the tunnel!!! I would be very interested in getting a new lock setup if you got it Kevin. Would u happen to have a link to that bbk and ecu? Thanks for all the help by the way! Also If your buddy is parting his out then yes I have a need for a left rear panel, center battery cover, front upper radiator/oil acess cover.. And lower left center that the battery cover attaches to...

scootertuning.ca/fr/cylinders/43004-cylinder-kit-malossi-i-tech-70cc.htmlThis is the link for piaggio model (we haven't put the Morini's on the website because they are rarer and rarer) but I'll get a quote from the website owner if you're interested. Look for Aprilia-Vecchi on eBay for your key switch. aprilia-vecchio@live.co.uk if you don't find what you need. I got a waaaay better ignition system from them (euro ignition is all-Ducati instead of Mitsuba rotor and ducati stator as we have here, can run high watts PIAA headlights and battery never charged as fast. )

Sadly I have no Aprilia parts left, except the Aprilia dealer no one want to work on these and the dealer is asking waaaaay too much for simple things ( $1300 to change piston, rings, gasket and o-rings). Parts I had left were sold fast... Get some (at least) 300PSI rated 5/16in. hose and clamps just in case (little too big but they do fit with REAL injection clamps, not radiator-collars-like clamps) , your old hoses are certainly starting to crack and dealers can't get OEM hoses. Under 300PSI hoses is asking for trouble, I got 150PSI hoses who exploded in my face many times, inflating like baloons then throwing fuel at high pressure everywhere.

I'll try to get a better price. At least you get a new ECU and o-rings at the same time. I know it's pretty expensive but consider buying a new digi-dash, transponder key kit ( a cut key has cost me around $250 plus time to make the ECU reconize it...) and oem ECU if it's dead... it will be over the money you'll spend on the Malossi kit. Also, converting to carburetor is more complicated than it looks like !

Can you get a used digi dash for cheap? I'm hoping I can find someone parting a bike out or wrecked one and get a lock set from it...From what I can tell the hoses look good! Like I said before if I can get passed this key/dash/ecu thing I think mechanically the bike is in great shape. No dry rot on the tires and very little wear on the breaks as well as the tires and the very little dust in the cvt area...seems like its in better mechanical shape than my 90cc eton...

Sry it's been so long guys but I have great news!!! First off I got my lock set and it fits great tho there is no transponder chip. I did however find someone to rebuild my original digi dash for 100 bucks!! Looks brand new! The scooter now runs and only has 2900 miles in it . I found the panels I needed and also installed a malossi multivar variator, white torque spring, special belt, and 2k clutch springs. I also got a killer deal on a derestriction for the ecu and a used Leo Vince zx-r.. I will post pics when I get a chance. Sry but didn't take any of the cool parts before installation...
