Hello once again my fellow scoot junkies!!!! I got what I think is a score on a 2007 Aprilia SR-50 factory ditech for $300!!! Now it does need some work hence the build tread...Any input is appreciated. I have come up with a small list of parts that I need to get her going. Any donated parts are greatly appreciated as well ... It is a stolen recovery so it needs a new key and lock set as well as a new digital dash speedo. I also need a left rear panel and center battery cover... After dissassembling all of the body work, the scoot is in generally great shape as far as I can tell.. I still haven't ran anything since it has a disabler system for anti- theft. Well as soon as I get pics ill upload them and keep y'all updated... Peace!

I'm hoping its not a money pit either... If I'm not mistaken I think I read somewhere that you can convert to carb relatively easily... If all else fails then that's what I'll do but I really hope I can keep everything in place.

i dont think you can convert to carb as its fuel injected and the cases are different

As he said..the FI and ECU care the 2 big dollar items that folks have probs with. You have to be pretty good with a muliti-meter since they don't adjust like carbs do. Regardless 300 bux is not bad. Other expensive parts are the body panels..so I hope they are in good shape. Can you get it to run..and what is the compression? I worked on one for a guy here in Holland,MI. A red Squirrel or mice got to the wires for his ECU and lighting. Sad to see as it looked brand new..but did not run and would just eat fuses. ECU must have gotten shorted when they ate wires cause once we we re-wired it..it would not start or even 'pop' Replaced the ECU and it fired right up..but did need some adjusting. Like ryan said..kevin here should be the resident expert on those..so ya should be in good hands...

Luckily all the body panels are good except 2. I haven't done a compression check yet but I turned it over by hand and it feels great scoot doesn't seems to have too many miles on it. Pretty unmolested... Well with the exception of being stolen at one point. I won't be able to run anything tho until I get a lock set and dash...$653 plus tax... Ouch!!!!! But it's my dream scoot and I would never be able to afford one new!

These are Piaggio engine models (who are worth get converted to carb for big Malossi/big brand engines)because it's pretty expensive and choice is limited for Morini's.
Look for crankshaft bearings wear (remove belt and try moving the crankshaft up and down)
Jump start it and put soapy water on compressor and hoses to find leaks. 2007 had issues with compressor.
Never buy a used ECU. Buy a new one at dealer. Finding key switch and installing them is more complicated because they have transponder keys. Get the good battery for your scooter: if you don't have the good one, you can kill your ignition and ECU.
Change injector o-rings if old gas has sit in for a long time.

Thanks for the links doc but I need a lock set with the transponder and key as well as a digital dash for a liquid cooled, fuel injected engine but if I converted to carb that may just work? If I did simplify this engine and converted to carb. Could I just use any key switch at that point and do away with the ecu, but what about ignition? I don't think it's a Cdi ...?

Hey Kevin just saw the post and I think it is a morini engine not the piaggio looks similar to a Mina water pump...and what in the hell is the air pump/ compressor for? Sry I'm not familiar with these fuel injected engines.. Not as simple as a standard minarelli that's for sure...

Those were not exactly the parts ya needed in my links.. I was showing you that you can get them cheaper. First ya gotta figure out if it is a Morini..Minarelli..Suzuki or whatever engine. I know they used a few different ones. Put up a few pics of what ya bought..and folks will come out of the woodwork with help...answers and links to what ya need to buy..AND ya won't be putting out $635.00.. With all the members on here..somebody most likely even has parts laying around you can buy..
