 My air filter fell of. I didn't hear it and now I can't find it. What should I do while I wait for a new one. I thought I might stretch a nylon over it for a few days>

The nylon isn't a bad idea. Never tried it, but it seems like it would filter more than a screen.

Cool, I took some thicker nylon socks from wife. even doubled it up they seem to have perfect breathability. I'll zip tie it on tomorrow and let you know how it goes. I ordered a ramair filter, and I'll reposition the filter this time. Which side is better, over the exhaust or over the CVT?

Well, if anything i guess you found out that your running rich. Or rich enough to not make it run like pooh w/out the filter on. If it were jetted real close to tune it would have leaned way out and died or ran hot with poor performance. I would say get the filter in the coolest spot you can to avoid sucking in hot air off the ex, or fan shroud exit. I had this happen to me once while i was in a hurry! Head temps went up quick!

Yeah I guess I am running rich. That's good. I don't want to seize the engine but I guess I'll work on getting my mixture tighter.
I forgot about the shroud exit. It is on the CVT side. Right now, or before I lost it, the air filter was about an inch away from the back tire. It was covered in crud from rainy days. I took it off and blew it out with a compressor, then lost it.
