My friend just recently upgraded from the 80-100cc BBK.... I rode it and want to cry, the thing pulls up-hill like ridiculously.
ALTHOUGH, he has ran into crank shaft problems actually broke one whole rod. Now he keeps having variator problems, because he insists of using such light-weight slider weights.
Everything aside, what would I need to do to make this a reliable daily?

If you want it to last consider a different crank. Something like the Naraku HD or maybe even a stock crank from a Kymco that has the 139QMB. You may get lucky and the crank will last, but an awful lot of people see severely reduced engine life with 50mm+ bores on stock Chinese cranks. I installed a brand new Chinese replacement crank with my 50mm kit and it lasted 2003 miles before the rod bearing went.
Keeping the revs a bit lower should help as well. Use rollers/sliders that don't make you redline all of the time. Maybe stick with a stock cam instead of an aftermarket piece that may push the powerband higher.
You still get a nice boost from a 47mm (72cc) kit and there have been far fewer stories of premature crank failure with those.

unless your running a stroker max CC's is not over 89cc, stick with 47mm kit or 72cc and if you do go with a 50mm kit or 52mm kit its a must if you want reliability to get a hd crank by stated above. ive had kits that lasted only about 500 miles before going.
with 50-52mm kits i found that they work best with 1k torque springs and around 7.7.5g weights

So overall I we can safely say that a 100cc BBK is ultimately a waste of money and will NOT be considered reliable what-so-ever.

unless your dropping 150 for crank and another 50-100 on a good head...its a waste
ive completely decked out a 4t with all the stuff you can think of and it managed 55 tops and that was geared 52mm bbk variator stroked and cam/head to match and it was a wheelie machine but the top speed was only about 55-57 tops gps

I've recently bought a Tao Tao ATM50-A1 and i got a 100cc big bore performance kit found here: www.ebay.com/itm/161018753179?item=161018753179&viewitem=&vxp=mtrI'm curious which other mods/upgrades I can buy to make this my daily driver and a fun little speeder. Money is not really an issue, neither is time, but I'd rather do all of the upgrades at the same time as the kit so I only have to do one dismantle and such.

caliboy! As mentioned, a quality crank would be a good addition. Something like the Naraku HD should handle the added stresses better than stock. You can go with a stroker. PFS sells a 44mm Hoca stroker crank (part# 169-239). Scooters To Go sells one as well and they also sell a long block 87cc. Stroker cranks are not a drop-in item. They should fit, but clearances change when you change stroke so there's a lot to check over and a spacer plate may need to be made or the piston could need to be modified. The head looks to be pretty standard, basically stock with a little cutaway for the larger bore size. A big valve head would help. HERE is a cheap one from that same seller. PFS sells part #169-70 50mm big valve head. Scrappy sells a well reviewed head. NCY HERE. If you do go with a big valve head I would suggest port matching the intake manifold and spacer to it. I notice that kit comes with 1 jet and 1 set of roller weights. Consider a jet kit (PFS part# 114-49). I'd also consider a set of tuning rollers. Tuning rollers are not meant for long term use. You use them to find the weights that give you the best performance and then but roller weights to match. I prefer sliders, but the weights you find with rollers won't be the same as the slider weight you need for the same RPM so you may end up needed a couple sets of sliders in the neighborhood of 1g heavier than the rollers. PFS and Treatland are good sources for sliders.

Well I'll definitely put in an order for the naruka HD crank for a start, and I'll see how the jet is on the kit i got off ebay with the 100cc big bore, since i already ordered that and it's on it's way. It's definitely going to be my weekend project when it gets here int he mail and i'll probably follow your PDI videos for a second time since i already did a watch through

So i went ahead and ordered 1.5k clutch springs, 1k main torque spring, and some iridium spark plugs (2 to start), should i consider a 23mm bbk carburator? i found one on scrappydogscooters.com

You don't need a larger carb for the 50mm kit. The vari is a good deal. Hard to go wrong at the price.
