I dont know why other than a change in temp my scoot is running very rich now. I have tried everything i can think of and it still has a bad bog at full throttle. I put my smallest main jet in 80 and that helped, but i still am getting a nasty bog when transitioning from just about any throttle position to WOT, sometimes i have to let off or it will flood. I know a change in temp can require a main jet change but i would have thought going from an 85 to an 80 main would do more than help. I also have my needle set at the leanest setting. I cleaned my carb thinking maybe something was clogged in it, checked my enricher, I even unplugged the boost bottle to see if that helped. Im outta ideas and ready to order some new jets. Any ideas?

Get your main jet dialed in first, so it's good 3/4 to WOT. Then change around needle position, mixture, or slow jets. If it's still bogging at WOT with your smallest main you pretty much need to get a more restrictive air filter or down jet.

Thanks Brent, I will order some smaller mains asap. Until then i will try restricting the filter a bit to see if that helps, i can hardly ride it like this.

Now i really see why people rant about tuning. It doesnt bother me much i just cant believe what 10 degrees did to my tune. I have had allot of other 2 strokes and none were as carb finiky as this one. A bigger carb is in the future for Skeedr

This is part of why I chose the Arreche and Dellorto PHBL carbs when I bought my last two. Having easy access to the main jet makes life easier. The Dellorto actually has the main jet that comes out and you can change it on a bench. It only uses the one bolt/main jet holder to keep the whole bowl on too, so it's faster to get to the pilot jet, starter jet, float, atomizer, etc...

It ended up running best without an air filter at all. I am going to check the enricher again, and clean the carb again. I am getting a few smaller mains, but i still cant believe it would run so rich it will flood out if im not careful with the throttle . I even went out last night after it cooled down a bit to see how it would run. This time it was the same deal, and i know it was cooler outside than Skeedr has been ran in before. This thing is maken me think....ouch, it hurts lol. I know i know, get a smaller main. They wont be here for a few days and im wondering if thats even the problem. If it were running lean it would be so much easier to fix, bigger main or air leak. Not this time, i gotta work on this one.

MIne's still touchy in the summer weather too. I suspect changes in humidty and barometric pressure could be part of the cause. CV carburetors are designed to be more resistant to those factors.

I ended up filling an old over drilled main i had with jb weld and drilling a smaller one. I started lean and drilled it out until i found the best tune. I used 2 plugs to tune it but other than that it was free, and i like free. I ordered new mains but i couldnt wait for them to come in the mail, for one i needed wheels, for two it was bugging me wondering if the main being to big was really the cause. Now i know, and i feel better lol.

Glad it's straight now. The people that ask for the one jet size they'll need with a big bore kit or whatever mod should read this thread to understand why I won't give them a size. Perfect example. Jets can get pricey, but it really dos pay to have a range of them... or be willing to drill and/or fill.

I hear ya there. I have become more reluctant to offer up a jet size for somebody to try. There is a person over at SD that is asking. Maybe we should make a permanent jet answer and just paste a copy when people ask. Im not saying its a bad question, just a "Pete%Re-Pete" answer. Im sure you can relate. I bet you could build two of the exact same Minarelis, or any 2stroke and have two different jets in em for the proper tune. One of thoughs Dail-A-Jets is starting to sound more like a good idea, that is if it works right on a small two cycle. I dont see why it wouldnt but ya know.

I almost hate to do cookie cutter answers, but it makes more sense than writing something up. Even a FAQ probably wouldn't do much. So many folks skip over the FAQ and search functions and head straight to post a new topic. I need a popup for new members so when they mouse over the new topic button it says, "Easy there big fella. Have ya checked out the FAQ and tried a search?".
I don't see why the dial-a-jet couldn't work on a 2 stroke, but I haven't checked 'em out for a bit, maybe I'm forgetting something.
