What is it with people riding these everywere? Heres another one with toasted wheelbearings. I cant complain too much, its putting a few duckets in my pocket and the local law must not be to worried about em cause i picked this one up for the owner at the mall. He was riding it through the mall parking lot and the wheel bearings stopped him.

They're kinda neat, but I'd take the small sportbike (midbike) version any day. You wouldn't get away with those around here, trust me... Bob, another friend, and myself all got pulled over on them at the same time.

I guess, lol...Allot of the cops around here like custom choppers and own em so i guess that why they give em a break. The last one i worked on, the owner said he got stopped and the cop told him that he thought it was cool and he wasnt gong to do anything but other cops might because it isnt a scooter.

It's the same around here. All of the cops that ride seem to own Harleys and choppers. I met 2 state troopers that were looking at a Mustang for sale here and they rode sportbikes. Even they said that most of the other troopers don't like sportbikes and you'll get pulled over way faster on a sportbike than a cruiser.

Well the owner finally came and picked it up today. He road it up and down the road and came back very happy. It had an exhaust leak because of loose flange bolts and a few other small things that i would have found if i had the key and could have ran it . I did adjust the shifter linkage and bleed the brakes. He is happy so im happy, now for more work ;D?

Im bored so and not much going on so i figured i would share this. I got this chopper back with another bad wheel bearing after only about 100miles (maybe) on it . I told the owner i would replace it for free this time because it didnt last, and thats just how i am . I was curious to see why it didnt last anyway. I owner said he loaned it to a buddy and its hard tellin how he road it. I said it shouldnt really matter how it was ridden, a bearing should last longer than that. After checking out the situation i noticed the wheel spacer was a bit too big around and getting into the bearing seals with axial force trashing them quick. In ended up grinding the spacers to fit proper and kinda felt silly i hadnt noticed before. I guess you could say i assumed it would be correct from manufacturing. lol, yea right! So i got that all fixed up then fired it up only to hear this god awful rattle in the exhaust. He left me the key and told me to give it hell. Ya know, for stress factor tests ;D! Take a look at this burn-out bearing test and you will hear what i mean It was the baffle inside the exhaust that came loose. I took the exhaust off and cut the baffle in half, removed half the baffle and welded it back together. It sounds much better now ;D! I changed the oil and im gonna clean the carb today and make some money after all

Sounds like it worked out pretty well for everyone involved. Thanks for the vid. Those choppers have no trouble spinning that tire it seems. The sportbike styled ones will just lift the front wheel. Hmmm... burnouts or wheelies? Once again, sorry it's slow. I personally don't have any work going on with any projects to share. I haven't even rode in the last 4-5 days because of rain and other stuff going on. All I have going on with the scoots is waiting for Michelin Boppers to replace the busted rear Pilot and the front Pilot with 6,500ish miles on it. I got some DynaBeads to try out for myself this time around too. Still working on calculators for the site. I think you guys will dig what I'm doing when it's all done. Might be a bit though.

I dug this up a minute ago www.tomaliscooters.com/pd_110cc_spider_chopper.cfmI cant believe these sell for $1000! They are dangerous lol. I could barely get it to turn without the shifter linkage hitting the ground . Cool for burnouts though ;D!!!! Thats about it...and maybe a straight line race

Well, when the midbikes and minichoppers first came out the 110cc 4 strokes were sold for $1000 or just under. The spiderbike was a little higher because of all the detail and metal work compared to others. It was somewhere around $1500-2000 at a shop that had it locally years ago. But yeah, it's too much money for what you get. Those little cateye bikes with the single speed 49cc 2 stroke sold for $400-500 and all they were was a tiny frame with a weedwacker engine and the cheapest wheels, tires, and plastics they could muster up.

I installed a new carb on a bike with the same type engine last week. It was a Tank "Mini Custom 50" I rode it after and it was okay I guess. The shifting was weird in that it was 4 down. I figured it was 1 down, 4 up like a "normal bike" Then the owner told me how the gears were and I was able to ride it right. I liked the fact that they climb steep hills easily due to the gearing, but the rest of it seemed untrustworthy. Especially the chain and sprockets. I seemed rickety. I give it a 5 out of 10 on the mechanical. 7 out of 10 on looks. Now that I know the wheel bearings are suspect on these Chinese bikes I'll warn the owner. www.tank-sports.com/products/vision/minicustom50ver2.html

Thanks! I need all the side work i can get...
jmstar, i agree with you. They arent reliable or practical to ride everyday thats for sure. The 110cc did pull it pretty well but allot of that is gearing.
