No problem. Was a bit scary for me at the time, and I'd rather no one else have to deal w/ that. FWIW, I haven't seen anyone report similar behavior. In any case, to replace the jets / tune, you'll need to get to the underside of the carb anyway.

Welcome to the community Nice scoot. Let us know how everything goes w/ it. IIRC many of the tao tao machines are mechanically similar, and there's several of us here w/ them. One thing to note though, I'd try to get into the float bowl of the carb and make sure the float is working / adjusted properly. I had the stock carb on my machine dump gas out the top while riding, which I think was caused by a stuck needle / float. I had that happen on My SunL 4T. There was gunk on the float needle and it wouldn't close. When the engine was running the vacuum fuel pump just kept pumping gas. I had gas coming out of my air filter housing and the foam filter was saturated with gas about 1" from the bottom. Definitely unseal a carb. The alcohol in gas gunks them up pretty bad and they need to be cleaned occasionally.

There's a tube that sticks out from the side at the top of the carb and has a 90 degree bend. Gas went out the tube and back into the air box (it drained over the plastic air shroud on top of the engine and out of the air box). I wonder if there's any issue with capping off that top line, or with running a hose away from the engine / off to the side so gas doesn't flow out near the hot stuff... Not to get too off topic... Anyway, I'm adding clean carb float and jets to my regular maintenance schedule

Picking up my new scooter this friday; signing up at a few of the forums. Ive found some good info here.. I got a TaoTao EVO 150 ATM Feb 28th. I already have close to 1000 clicks on her. I changed the engine oil after 200 clicks and the gear fluid after 300. Had to put on a trickle charger one time because the battery got low. Have used the bike as a daily commuter and have not faced any issues. Put a performance CDI on it just this week. I think at best it's about 2% better than the stock CDI as far as either top speed or acceleration. Number one thing you will want to put lock tite on is any bolts on the exhaust. Otherwise all of them want to wiggle off. I dunno if you are a long time rider or not. But will give you a 10 cent bit of advice about riding. 1: Assume you are invisible the instant you sit down on the bike. 2: Never run or stop in the center of the lane, your tires will pick up oil residue and you might slip. 3: Fasten you helmet securely, your noggin won't bounce well if you fall of the scooter 4: Better to wear a long sleeve shirt if at all possible, should you come into contact with the road surface you may get less road rash with just wearing a little more clothing vs a little less. Road Rash sucks, don't ask me how I know... :-)
