I have an '06 Kymco with 303 miles. Yes it was sitting for a long time. I know the carb needs to be cleaned. I have torn into many carbs before with great success. However, never one that is liquid cooled. I starting breaking things down and suddenly had coolant spilling everywhere. So... no clue. The scoot idles great, but as I twist the throttle and hold it, the engine bogs down and will shut off. If I feather the throttle it will run a little. Plz help me get this old thing running.

Where was the coolant coming from, the carb? Some water cooled bikes have a setup that uses the coolant to warm the carb and stop carb icing. You should be able to leave these pipes connected and still have enough room to turn the carb so you can get the jets out, and clean them.

Change the fuel and fuel filter and clean carb and fuel lines.

I removed a hose going to the carb & the coolant came out of that. I will attempt to remove it as a unit and see. I will also get a couple claps to pinch off the coolant lines.

Ok, I took the carb apart, drained the fuel, changed the fuel filter... put fresh 92 octane in, topped off engine coolant. It started just fine and ran. Then, I took it for a short ride and it started to bog. I got back to my garage as it cut out. Started it again but had to feather the throttle to keep it going. Rev'd it about half throttle for about 15 secs then it started to bog again. It's idling at 1900 which the manual says. It seems as though it's not getting steady fuel.

Check the vacuum line to the fuel pump which is usually located on the bottom of the gas tank. The stock fuel pumps are vacuum operated, so if there is a leak in the vacuum line the pump wont work very good. If the line is ok, then you may have to buy a new pump (most pumps I see are about $15). The fuel pump may be clogged (due to alcohol in the gas, alcohol like to gunk things up). Better yet, put a regular fuel petcock with an inline open/close valve. That way gravity feeds the carb and doesn't rely on the vacuum line.

Where would the inline shut off go, because there is a fuel filter there? And, will it gravity feed with the filter?

Tank > Shutoff > Filter > Carb
Really you could change the positions of the filter and shutoff, but it makes changing filters a lot easier when you can shut off the flow.
If you can keep a steady downhill slope across the board it will gravity feed.

The super 9's do have engine coolant running thru the carbs for the choke system. You should be able to bypass the carb with the coolant if its still leaking when you put it back together.

So I removed the vacuum assembly, drilled out the fuel feed port, cut the line to the vacuum port & doubled it back over itself & electrical taped it. Did the same with the carb end. Sloped the fuel line down by shortening it. Started great, idled nice, took it 1/2 mile & as I turned around I had to feather the throttle to keep it running. Once I got on it again it did fine going back home. So I guess I'll run it a little while and see how it does. Thanks so much for your advice..

Still needing some input... Went on a long ride yesterday. As long as I'm going about 20 its great. I was wide open for a long distance up & down hills, hit 50 at one point (long downhill) BUT, as soon as I get to a corner and half to slow down it bogs down and I have to work like hell to keep it running. One time it died & it took me a few minutes to get re-started. Every time I get it back up to what I would consider 2nd/3rd gear it takes off great. Help me get this baby dialed in. It now has 319 miles.

The tech section carb and read up. A basic understanding will make it easier to tune and express your problems and understand the help offered. There are notches on the needle you lower the clip to raise the needle to richen the midrange. Raise the clip to lower the needle to lean the midrange
