So it turns out there is a problem with the title to my scooter. Its not stolen But apparently the current owner never put the title into his name. The DMV does have a record of the scooter being sold to him. I also did get a seperate bill of sale with his signature on it. I let my wife deal with the paper work while i got the scooter loaded. No i'm not blaming her I blame myself for not looking closer. The only excuse i have is that i had very little sleep during that period of time. Well anyway. I can't get the owner to go down to the DMV and fix the title issue. I could take him to court and eventually get the title. I'm really not out any money I could sell it off for parts easily and get my money out of it. I just feel like such a tool..  The whole idea was for me and my wife to go riding together |

Sorry to hear it. Damn paperwork issues are harder to deal with than mechanical ones.

Yeah. My wife wants to take him to court and get the title. I don't think its worth it. The engine and everything turned out to be good. So if my other scoot had a major malfunction I could swap the engine out in minutes and get it back on the road. The some of the parts is worth more than the whole anyway.

Maybe you could get an attorney to write a letter that would persuade him. I'm pretty sure he has played this game before. Even if he cooperated it would be a major pain to get this mess cleared up. He doesn't seem to answer the phone anymore. I guess he has my number flagged. If he has any brains at all he knows it will be more of a pain to actually get the title then its actually worth. In the old days I would have taken him to court on principle alone. I put an add on craigslist for a trashed out scoot with a title. I know when to cut my losses these days. It's better I think just to strip it for parts. So if anyone is in need of some body panels whatever drop me a line... |
