Check out what im shopping for :thumb: ! These are the scooters to be riding 25MPH on  ! The plan is to get two of these badboys, Uncle wants one too. We are gonna keep our 2T,s in hopes that things will change and for a ride now and then. But we figure if we have to go 25 or less, why not go green? What do you all think? I could be our first ele-test-dummy :zap:

If 25 is all you can go then 1500 watts (2 hp) would be all you'd need. You could really piss off cagers going up hills too! One thing for sure - you'd save a bunch of money on gas.

It would be interesting to see what a veteran internal combustion rider thinks of riding an electric scoot on a regular basis.

Well i told you to get your "Scootin' Zen" on and that would sure do it. ;D
It is a cool experience to ride a silent scoot. I'm with Brent, can't think of a better person to boldly lead the way!
My only thought about my ride was that if it is going to be slow it should be "low". IE the scooter equivalent of a beach bomber bicycle. All laid back and fat.

My dad has had one for two or three years now. There is also information out there to get your electric going faster than the manufacturer ever intended it to go.
His has pedals that you can bolt on if you need to. It keeps it in the assisted bicycle category too! Without the pedals it looks just like any scoot.

Not sure yet, its all new to me??? I thought i would mention it here and see what you all thought? I think its a good idea for now. Its looking like around 20-30MPH and around 20-30miles per charge? Im interested in seeing just how quick one of these puppies is capable of getting to 25MPH? Ive riden the stand-up kind and they were kinda cool. If the aftermarket is anything like the electric radio control world, these things are capable of smoking allot of gas scooters with the proper mods  . Yes, i said it! . Wouldnt that be a trip? "hey, WTF, i cant even hear it?, Hey that things electric" People would get a kick outta that!

They were selling those at our local Ace Hardware a couple years back. The slower ones, they ran in the $750 range. Already planning the mods? LOL

If you get it, will you please strap a boombox to it and jam THIS around town for me? lol That is honestly the first thing I would want to do if I had one. BTW I just noticed your sig. Hell of a driveway and garage you've got there. I'd hate to think what those suckers would do if you had more room!

Actually electric isn't so green. Large part of electricity in most countries is made by non-renewable sources. See Wiki here for USA in 2009. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2008_US_electricity_generation_by_source_v2.png nearly 70% of electricity in USA is made from burning coal and gas, 20% from nuclear power, which is technically a non-renewable source. I knew it was bad but I was surprised that things were this bad, only 10% of electricity made in USA is from renewable sources. Making the cells for electric vehicles means mining and refining metals. Both are heavy polluters. And the cost of running lightly modified gasoline scooter is only about 3-4 bucks for 100 miles, plus 2stroke oil .

Maybe a STOCK GY6 would be a bit more practical....Not fun,but practical

Maybe a STOCK GY6 would be a bit more practical....Not fun,but practical Agreed. Longer range, no charging, and with the proper gearing could hit 25 really fast I assume. Electric motors have a ton of potential. They have a flat power curve, so the power is instantly available at any speed. Sounds like a cool idea, but I think you'd be happier with a GY6 geared properly to your speed limits - given the availability of parts and your knowledge of internal combustion engines.
