Maybe a STOCK GY6 would be a bit more practical....Not fun,but practical Agreed. Longer range, no charging, and with the proper gearing could hit 25 really fast I assume. Electric motors have a ton of potential. They have a flat power curve, so the power is instantly available at any speed. Sounds like a cool idea, but I think you'd be happier with a GY6 geared properly to your speed limits - given the availability of parts and your knowledge of internal combustion engines. Nope! I already know what them el do ! I wanna try out a new turd. IF i can find the right deal on a elescoot and some solar panels to charge it :riding: . I already have a GY6 and i have riden it as much as i want to ;D. Wonder how good they handle with dual rear shocks and a lower center of gravity?

Wonder how good they handle with dual rear shocks and a lower center of gravity? If the purpose is to stay at 25MPH I dunno if it even matters that much. I guess if it handled well enough you could just make the throttle and on off switch. Limit it to 25, turn it on, and don't turn it off till you get back home. Now there's a way to make a 25MPH ride exciting!

Im just thinking out loud (or typing in quiet :stumped: ) about the idea. I dont think i will be able to afford one soon, and there isnt many good used ones up for grabs cheap yet.... I was thinking about modding one of those stand-up units before i even bought Skeedr but the idea never took off. I was into radio control stuff bigtime and the Lithium/brushless combos get flat out nuts these days. I couldnt do it (test it), but if someone that knows what they are doing builds one of these electric scooters and does it right, dont be surprised when they fly by ya . I think that would be kinda neat! Im all for my 2T,s and gas powered anythings but im a gearhead through and through. I like to see anything haul, mostly the least expected, or the under-dogs :riding:

25 is plenty fast on the 90 degree turns like intersections (spoken like someone that crashed going too fast in one lol). Pretty much any scoot can do that, it's just not safe with the crap that ends up in intersections like oil and coolant.
I agree on seeing anything fast. How about one of those electric scooter/wheelchair thingies from places like wal-mart. I bet that would be a trip at 25. If it wasnt fun on the street, run some hot laps around the local department store.

So, an electric scooter doesn't/can't recharge itself while running? Seems like it should be able to work like a generator. Most scooters can probably recharge while braking. Laws of energy (laws of nature say that you can't create energy from nothing and energy isn't lost, it's converted. And last but not least, no convertion is 100% efficient. To be able to charge the batteries while riding you have to propel the scooter forward. Because of efficiency is always less than 100%, you use more energy propeling it than you can make from running it. If you can actually get the scooter to produce more energy than it consumes, while you're running it, you'll become the richest person on earth in few years.
