Parking for scooters is free at the Village of Merrick Park mall, while cars pay about $3 an hour. Enter by the Ponce de Leon entrance instead of the Le Jeune entrance. I found this out the hard way while attempting to go in by the usual automobile entrance. I was told by the ticket chick that the reason for the free scooter (and motorcycle) parking is that the mechanical arm that opens and closes for cars does not usually recognize low-weight vehicles, and when it does it closes a little too soon, so they were used after someone was injured. If anybody knows the spots with free or convenient scooter parking, let us know (even if they aren't in Miami).
