Hi I just wanted to introduce myself. I am from Ocean City Md. I am looking to buy a a scoot cuz i love em. I am looking a two for sale near me. One is a Vento R4 and the other is a Sunny jl50qt-5. The Vento is $450 and the sunny is owned by a friend that isnt sure how much she wants to sell it for.
This forum has been alot of knowledge for me thanks to all on hear. I cant wait to get myself a scoot and start cranking on it. I have been searching on the www for engine specifics on these two and havent found much. Any knowledge on these two would be great to have like the quality and parts availability. Or even opinions on whuch one to get. I will be a daily driver and someone that likes to cruise everywhere on one. Thanks and this is a great forum.

I've got two Vento Tritons (bought my first from Island Cycles in OC in 2006). Both of mine are two-strokes, but they did start making them in four-stroke versions at one point. The JL50 is probably a four-stroke. I really like the 2T Tritons. Unless gas mileage is your main concern or the Triton is rough, that would be my choice. Even if the Triton is a four-stroke (4T) it should be a bit more comfortable/roomy. If you browse the Builds section you can find my 2 Tritons plus more from other members. Here is some engine ID info: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/2359/identifying-engineIf you need work done in OC, check out Continental Cycles. I forget the street but I know they were beside a car wash and a restaurant with neon decorations and they sold Kymcos and Tomos mopeds. I used to go down there for tires. It's an hour and a half by car from me, but nobody in my area would sell and mount tires on a Chinese scoot back before I started mounting them myself. Anyway, those guys were always very fair and friendly.

Welcome! Lots of people with Tritons and clones around including myself. Parts are easy to find and mods are endless. The Triton would get my vote.

The tech department at Sunny should be able to help you out with some information. www.sunnymotor.com/

I really like the triton. Thr ad says $550 for a 2004 triton. Looks like it has almost5k miles on it. I am not sure if it is worth that much. I will try to get it cheaper like any haggler would. Is $550 too much for it. I have seen alot online going for 350-450 with less miles. I would like to get a 4t because i am used to working on them but i do love a 2t.

I searched it up. Pretty sure I'm seeing the right red one. That's a good looking scoot. I'd say it's worth $550 as long as there are no paperwork issues just judging by appearance. Still, haggle. The 2Ts are strong runners compared to the 4Ts. The Triton should have good gearing too (good for speed if once you mod it).

A Tao Tao 4t just came up on Clist for 350. I think i might check this one out but I'm still leaning on the vento.

The TaoTao sounds smooth enough in the vid. It appears to have been painted, seat swapped, astro turf floor mat. That's not necessarily saying anything, but because you never know what kind of work someone else does I'd say at least look up under the front and rear and make sure you don't see a rat's nest of wires and all the signals work and such. Still, I like the Triton better. More room, should be quicker if it's running well, definitely can be quicker than the 4T. Big disadvantage for the 2Ts would be less fuel efficient and parts are becoming more scarce than they used to be. You should still be able to find any repair parts, just the 4T stuff is everywhere.
