Anybody know of European sites that might stock parts for Thenoob? I know they are out there, I'm just not familiar with any.

Currently looking on eBay and using google to try to find one of these minarelli engines... I'm guessing it's a bit older engine but from what I see is highly upgradeable.
Hard to find tho. But it does have the correct design to fit better into my scooter, sort of the same design style.
You guys are great, I really do appreciate all this info, it's nice to find a board that people actually help, and are not super keep it stock nazi's. It's fun customizing stuff!!!
The search continues!! Am6 where are you?!!?

Nice! Being new to these types of scooter motors how do you guys like those derbi motors? Reliable? Easily customized? I guess my serious question would be 1. I'm guessing these are handle shift , so would need to buy new grips with the proper setup? 2. When mounting these engines the only thing I don't get is the chain. Is it critical to have on a certain angle? Or just mount the damn thing and measure out what length of chain you need? Here's a quick video: youtu.be/lSaFN_4dPPsI think that would answer my questions. Plus in guessing id need a key/ignition setup as mine just has kick start hahaha

Currently looking on eBay and using google to try to find one of these minarelli engines... I'm guessing it's a bit older engine but from what I see is highly upgradeable. I genuinely believe people should do their rides up the way they want them, not the way everybody else wants them to do it. There is something to be said for having all original, and a lot of folks like it that way, and I see nothing wrong with it either - In many cases, it will keep the sale value higher, and draw more buyers if you go to sell. But there is also something to be said (im one of these) with dropping in a more common newer engine and being able to drive it all day and night, grab parts/upgrades easily, and even source and swap a whole motor out quickly and for a few hundred dollars. Really great little scooter there, that's so classic!

So I wired out a deal for shipping for that derbi gpr50
I do have a few questions because I'm not familiar with them
1. What more would you need after motor mount/install? - proper handle bar grips? With shifter? Or is it automatic shift?
- exhaust? Obviously ya?
- key ignition?
- electrical wiring does all that come off that engine? I'm not too sure how they are laid out if they have a little generator on them.
Cheers!!

Depends on the machine. Old ride/new guts can destroy the market/collector value, especially on something that old.

It's the eBay link near the top of this page.
I asked him, it's manual , chain driven derbi gpr50.
I'm not too worried about collector value, I'll always source out a complete stock engine replacement but that takes time.
Right now , I wanna ride and have fun!

Around here, (West coast of Sweden) it's popular to convert older style mopeds with newer china four stroke engines. Have a look at the pictures at this site, www.bikenet.se/mek.aspThe Language is Swedish, so not much use there I guess But you will get the picture, scroll down a bit then they have some pictures of old classics, retrofitted. The engines are mostly made by Lifan, kick start, electric, or both, some are with reverse gear and some are semi-automatic. This have gotten many many packy-style mopeds back on the road again, eliminating the need of pre-mix.

Those are pretty nice, but its hard to beat the sound, smell and feel of a two stroke engine. Not to mention the fact that equal displacement 2t are usualy faster than thier 4t counter part. But, to each thier own, & we dont do this stuff to please others, we do it for ourselves. Have fun, and be safe.
