I have a 150four here with a very plugged pilot jet. I cant find anything small enough to run through it. Anybody got any ideas or suggestions towards getting it clean and clear? Thanks

I use a bread bag twist tie and remove the plastic from the end. The thing is with the pilot there is an obstruction in the middle- a cross wire for aspiration of the gas. This stops the cleaning wire from going through it all the way. you clean from either side and soak and spray it with carb cleaner. I am sure you know that all already.

I always use a thin wire and instead of trying to shove it through the clog which usually only results in frustration, I use light pressure on the wire and twist the jet so the wire drills it's way through the clog. Usually takes less that 20 revolutions to get through.
I've never seen a jet on a 4 stroke with a cross obstruction before.

Some of those pilot jet sizes are soooo small!I agree with Reg,a bristle from a wire brush,be sure its slightly smaller than the jet size though, more than once Ive had an awful rich engine after forceing a wire thru.

.. I've never seen a jet on a 4 stroke with a cross obstruction before. I have owned three scooters. Two 4t and a 2t. All had the cross wire in the middle of the pilot jet. I could not see the crosswire till I used a magnifying glass. Is it possible people think they have a clog and force a wire through the aspirator?

A beading needle is very thin and longer. Any craft store or craft section in a department store.

I think the safest way (besides the fact that you could launch the pilot somewhere) would be to blow it out with some PSI - I would think. I'd also soak it in some carb cleaner for a few minutes first to help break down the clog.

Nope. Im gonna try again today. If i cant get it today, a new jet is in order. I cant spend too much time on it......I tried air after it soaked for three days.

One last thought. Remove the zert adapter from your grease gun and adapt fittings for the jet. probably too much hassle though.

Got it!!!! ;D I was trying a piece of copper wire but it was too soft and folding up. Took yer advice and went out and cut a stiffer piece of wire from my drill wire wheel. Then i sat down and watched TV for a minute while i spun the pilot jet with the wire inside it. I held the little wire with a pair of small needle nose pliars (my c-clip pliars). Only took a minute once i got the right size wire that wasnt too soft. T/Y everyone!
