So I want to make my scooter faster but not too fast to attract attention from the law. So far I have gotten an expansion chamber muffler, a set of carb jets and when I get around to it, I'm going to get a BBK. My question is, what else can I do to improve performance?

You will need different rollers, contra spring and clutch springs. You can get a performance variator and clutch as well.

Focus on getting it in tune like Dave said first. If it's in a good state of tune a BBK and pipe will make a huge difference. Either one is a good improvement alone, but together you'll have a lot more power.

Well right now I don't know much about scooters, kinda just diving in and learning as I go. What is a contra spring?

Contra spring is also called the main spring or torque spring often. It's the big spring in the rear pulley that counteracts the roller weights. It tries to hold the rear pulley closed and helps the CVT "downshift". A stiffer contra spring will raise RPM, similar to lighter rollers. A softer contra spring lowers RPM, much like heavier rollers. You do need a contra spring stiff enough to keep tension on the belt so it doesn't slip. If you start seeing black marks on the pulleys and the belt is wearing fast, it may be time for a new or stiffer contra spring. If you get bored this vid will cover about anything you'd need to do under the CVT cover. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EjW-iSP-Q8

I went from a 68 to a 75 main jet and it helped a lil . It came with 6g rollers and I tried 4g but they were too light as I lost top end . I found that Dr Pulley sliders work way better than rollers . I later put on a 47m BBK , Uni and PM Racingpipe but lost bottom end power since the exhaust was unrestricted and did not build up back pressure . Takeoff was slower than stock but top end much better . I put on the stock pipe and went down to 105 MJ instead of 120 and it runs much better . The PMR pipe was VERY loud it even made my ears ring . The BBK does have more power that one could easily notice . The stock engine the exhaust port was D shaped where the BB?k was O shaped and had more ports . Stock it would max at 8k RPMs and fizzle if I went above that downhill . BBK I can hit 10.5k RPMs . Stock I would outrun or be a tie with modded 4Ts but after a BBK I easily outrun them and have two 150s . What is fun is to put 1.5k clutch springs in it so that the clutch engages at a higher RPM and you may can pop a wheelie or spin out in the grass or dirt . Run premium gas , preferably without ethanol if you can , use a synthetic blend or full synthetic 2T oil like Maxxima , Bel Ray or Motul instead of cheap weed eater junk . Use a NGK BRP8HIX ( some use 7) which is the iridium tip as it fires better and less likely to foul from oil build up like cheap oil and a standard plug can . Will not go faster but start and run better . I plan on getting a Koso variator as I hear nothing but good reviews and only 22 on Ebay not a bad price . If your pipe is just tubing with now expabsion chamber than a pipe will help once you get the jetting dialed in . A jet kit is a must have for tuning and much cheaper than paying per jet price . Here is one jet kit You can get a power kit like this power kit
