Got pulled over by the police today and had to put it on the mobile dyno. Result: 82kph, which means it needs a whole new check over in which i need to bring it back to OEM. Dunno if i have to be happy or sad since that mobile dyno was 30kph off...
Btw i have a video of it. Iam at work atm and will post more later.

You know for a fact a country that has a mobile dyno on call for scooters has had some trouble with modified scooters. 😆 I heard it was bad there but dang. A mobile dyno really? Atleast you get to keep your bike and they didnt destroy it.

You know public safety would be atrocious without that mobile dyno. Dang is right. They trying to bump you up into the next registration bracket to suck more money out of the public or what?

I’d love to see the video when the dyno locks up and they Superman someone’s scoot. Sucks that it happened but at least they didn’t take it then and there. Swap in a stock motor get it tested then swap back. Yeah it’s a hassle but it’s not the end of the world. What kind of fine do they impose for not being slow?

Theres a vid where a Piaggio zips cvt cover explodes on the mobile dyno and an officer gets injured on his leg. I'll post that one up later here. Its funny heh.

That sucks man ! I have seen that in the netherlands i think they just block the street and pullover scooter and put them on Dynos and ticket . What is the legal hp , why is it so important for them to bust people or it? Noise issues or what? It always baffles me when i see that, most times the guys is flying down a narrow road in the middle of nowhere and gets busted then they pull the dyno out on him . lol Man

Right, to give a little insight on what happened yesterday.
Here in Holland the police has mobile dynos to measure a moped's speed or power. Theres a lot of ppl here making their scooters and mopeds faster because its easy and cheap, lots or parts available etc. Anyway, putting aftermarket parts on is big, so police randomly have mobile dynos out on random places to check everyone that passes by on a scooter/moped. It's a generous money well for the government.
Law says a 49cc bike can have max 0,5kw (I think...not sure) and can only do 45kph. When you go over you'll get a fine or when its way over your registration become inactive. Theres different tiers. The highest tier will result in having your registration papers put on inactive.
I was way over and now i need to bring it back to OEM status. So max speed no higher than 45kph, noise from exhaust within the max DB level, two mirrors, good tires, good brakes everything needs to be as when it was new. Then have it tech checked at this governmental road and traffic office. Cost: €70.
I need to buy a tiny 12mm carb + stock intake boot + snorkeled airbox. Put the stock catalyc exhaust on with a big restrictor in it. Thick variator ring and hook back up the stock cdi's rev limiter. I'll keep the 70cc + all current parts, it'll be fine.
There also some axis' on this craigslist kinda auction site for less than €100. I could just throw my own axis in the bin, buy another one and put all the go fast parts on that one.
Oh, here's that vid where the officer get injured. Its a piaggio zip with a runner 180cc motor. Something in the cvt area explodes and the cvt cover shatters, parts hitting the officers leg.
BTW the fine they're gonna give me is €250 for exceeding the construction speed over 15kph. At least it didnt get inpounded.

O man that was painful runners rip. Thanks for the overall education on how it all works with the roadside dyno ticket money grab .

Found a legit and registered axis about 80km from my house for €50. Im gonna buy that, no hassle with bringing the current one back to oem. Im gonna swap over the motor and disk braked fork and im back on track.

Sorry you've gotta go through the BS. This is why even though I love scooters and would love to see more around; I'm still kinda glad they aren't everywhere here in the US. Right now we're such a minority that it would never be worth them going through the expense and trouble to educate officers and have any equipment. We have laws about speed and displacement and power, but I haven't heard of anyone actually having a scooter tested in any way. I was pulled over for speeding years ago and told the cop it had a BBK and he didn't care. He thought it was kinda cool (otherwise I wouldn't have told him). I've had a cop pull out and pass me after following me for a few miles when I was doing 50-60MPH in the roadway with moped registration and supposed to be on the shoulder.
That video makes me curious. What happens to the scoot owner in that case? It's a way bigger engine with way more power and the officer was hurt. So do they charge the owner with anything? I could only imagine if it were like that in the US, you'd have officers wanting to file assault charges on you or something.
This is sorta OT too, but the mention of a stock rev limted CDI also made me wonder about this. I know they sell limited CDIs that can be switched that tuners sometimes use in hopes of beating this sort of test. What if you rode around with all the go-fast goodies and polished bits and so on to make it obvious that it was modified... but ran a limited CDI without a switch? They would know it's capable of way more and hitting a limiter. I guess they'd just hit you with the not original parts crap and get their money from you that way?

They want to put it on the dyno, their risk. From that moment they're responsible for whatever happens. When they seize it they have to pay for repair costs. If the engine blows up, their responsibility. This is sorta OT too, but the mention of a stock rev limted CDI also made me wonder about this. They probably Impound it, have it checked by techs and determine if its restricted any other way than oem.

Like 90GTVert said, I was thinking some one needs to come up with a CDI that can put the bike into "limp mode". Like how back in the day when ricers would turbocharge Honda engines, if you didn't put in check valves or a Missing Link for the map sensor, once the boost would build up, the ECU would throw a check engine light and put the engine management in limp mode. Or maybe something like a boost solenoid for the fuel line so that you can flip a switch and it gags/starves the fuel so that when they dyno it, it just bogs.
