tore into it and pulled the cvt apart. Needed the clutch for 2stroked and I wanted to know gear ratio and crank size. Belt looked good not much dust belt at the outer edge of the td. Variator had shims and looked like it was lacking some travel. The td had a weird bulge that looks like it keeps the belt from going down all the way. Haven't seen that before Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Not sure what I'm going to do with this yet. I had to pull the carb and pipe bracket for the guy I got it from so it looks like it will get the carb from my Eton or a phbg del and one of my spare pipes to start. Still got to deal with the paperwork. For sure I'll change out that td. It's got the 10:1 gears so that's a plus and 12 inch rubber. Don't know if I'm going to bbk this or put one of my 90's in it. The Eton is the wife's so it has to be tame the zuma is my work ride so that leaves this add a toy so it can be wild. Just haven't had time to figure out what I want to do.

Why are you stripping down the RX8 for parts??.. I thought you were gonna put a BBK on it?.. Don't scrap out a kick ass scoot like that..

Had to give the guy back the carb and the stock pipe bracket and I figured I wasn't going to use the stock pipe or that carb anyway lol. I had a clutch and Bell with 1500 or 2000 rpm Springs that was nice so I pulled this for Chris for his build when I sent him cases I had stock Springs but no extra high rpm ones. I wanted to know what I had and I found the restriction in the td but the ncy td half I got from you doc should cure that.

I have since bought another and put it on a guys older Keeway FACT 2 T. That TD really made a difference over stock. He and I had to change and try the 3 different slots to tune it..but once we did..there is no longer that rpm drop during the midrange 'shift'. It is just a smooth and steady torque and rpm range from 0-50+ In fact I just ordered one for my Adly..

After riding my Zuma and Eton I never want a duel angle td again. Can't wait to try the overrange I've got in the box.

Nice Find! Got the alloy rims too.
I picked up a TD from parts for scooters that has 3 sets of grooves. Last sunday, I tried all 3 groves, and screwed with the variator weights, and the carb at the same time. ]I gotta stop changing more than 1 thing at a time! I had it all screwed up, so I went back to original setup. Never found a combo that was really better than the stock TD setup. I might work on it tomorrow a bit. I have never been really happy with the launch on my RX8, but everything else is pretty good IMO.

I have the hoca from partsforscooters set on the least aggressive straight angle. Like Doc said it got rid of the rpm drop at shift. My stocker looked like yours Moofus. Nice find. Plastics look good. Let me know if you need anything. I've got some extras. I'm going to bare bars so the new LED dash w/tach will have to go also.

You can see the CVT surely has limited travel as well by the wear pattern.. In the pic below..is this the 'bulge' you are talking about?..

That weld in the movable half is normal. It should match up to a recess in the fixed half. I wouldn't worry about that right now. From the look of the pic you've got room for the belt to go deeper before it would ever hit that weld. Even the Malossi OR has it. Left to right : Stock, Malossi
