That weld in the movable half is normal. It should match up to a recess in the fixed half. I wouldn't worry about that right now. From the look of the pic you've got room for the belt to go deeper before it would ever hit that weld. Even the Malossi OR has it. Left to right : Stock, Malossi Brent..as always..good post and pics. I know it will recess into the other half of the TD when closed and at idle. But I have always just assumed that when fully open it may keep the belt from dropping all the way down to the shaft itself... The NCY TD's had it as well..it just wasn't as thick..

Not sure it's good to get the belt on the shaft. The shaft has greasy film on it from the lube of the TD. Some of the pulleys would be kind flat there too, so it would get to a point and then just drop into the center, possibly like shifting to a high gear. Sounds good at first, but in reality I think that may totally kill top speed because I don't know that an otherwise well setup scoot may not be able to pull that. Not really sure. I've never tried to push that far. The rear pulley spins way to fast to make me want to grind the majority of a weld off.

Great find Moofus ! I have only rode these scooter with the 10 inch wheels. Its not bad but I'd imagine its much better ride at high speed with those wheels.

Looking forward to watching this build progress. Have you decided which engine and or bbk this bike is going to get? Whichever, I know it'll be a beast.

I think this is going to be my test bed scooter. I plan on starting with a cast iron bbk and stage 6 pro pipe with 19mm phbg carb. If it will start on the button that stuff will go on the wife's Eton. Then split the cases and put an autotech355 41.4 stuffer crank and aluminum kit with 21mm carb not sure on the pipe. Maybe c16? I'm also going to use this to test and tune my 90 motors Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Do you have a link to that crank? Is it a large spline?
