i have a metre of clear plastic tube and need to develop a method to determine the best float level on my Keihin carb

take a short piece of the hose, hook it to the float bowl drain nipple. then take the short hose 8-10 inches in length and run it up towards top of carb, from the bottom of the float bowl. secure it to the body of the carb so it doesn't move. make sure when you make the bend up it doesn't kink. as long as your end of the hose is higher then the bottom of the carb body it shouldn't spill the fuel. then open the drain screw and contents of bowl will fill the tube, take the vacum line off the carb and suck on the line to open the petcock and fuel will flow to replenish the bowl from when you opened the float drain.then note fuel level in clear line.
but i prefer to just measure the float height instead, because if it needs adjusted the carb n bowl would have to come off any way. so imo it's kinda a waste of time to hook up a hose and only get a ballpark idea of how much fuel is really in the bowl, but i hope the above helps you out

Also i was going to stick a Barcode off some product and stick it on the side of the fuel bowl as reference marks. I have a manual petcock that i fitted. So i should be able to observe fluctuations in fuel height at WOT on the centre stand.
