I'm having a bugger of a time keeping this intake from falling off. If I don't tighten it. it will fall off If I tighten it too much it pops out.
What should I do? Do I have to take off the carb and carve grooves for it to catch?

Silicone tends to soften and swell around gasoline,a 2 stroke carb always has 'stand off' while running(a mist of fuel that extends slightly from the carb mouth). You'll need to devise some sort of secondary clamp that ties the hose to the engine as well as the carb mouth..

Booo silicone. They had silicone gas hose too. It doesn't degrade in gasoline does it?

Lol, my carb used to "walk" its way out of the intake over time know-matter how tight it was.. One day my carb came plum out of the intake and would have hit the ground if the cable and such wasnt holding it. Not sure if this will help in your situation but i used a piece of wire as a "safety strap"(support) for the carb, now it stays put!
