Can I swap a short case engine in place of a long case engine (2 stroke vento)?

It's been done. Someone here put a shortcase 90 in a longcase bike and Ryan had a shortcase bike with a longcase in it. Not a perfect option but doable

It's probably gonna look weird with a small tire on the back and shortening the wheel base, but should work.

I did a long case on a 4T once looked bad ass with the 10 in front and a 12 in the back, looked like it had a fatty on it.

I recently swapped a short cased 150 with a long case 150. It was more of a necessity than a fun project. I had to get a scooter running and all I could find was a donor scooter that was wrecked. It didn't even dawn on me that it was a long case until I tried installing the original exhaust pipe. When the engine was finally installed in the frame, the shock had a bit more angle and the scooter appeared to squat a little more. The owner was pleased with the new appearance as it now kind of looked like it was customized. The larger wheel from the long case had to be used since it was a disk brake rear. It's been on the road for about 6 weeks and as far as I know, it's still working normal.

I can get a running 70cc S/C for a decent price, I just can't seem to figure out what is going on with my l/c.

That does look cool Troll. Any clearance issues on the scooter? Since that scoot is so small it reminds me of the look of the larger ones that use a 16" wheel... which I like, but they can't always fit a real seat bucket.

Hi Troll, I had to shave off the cable lever mount off of the left controls. The rear brake master cylinder fitted nicely in it's place. At first I tried to simply rotate the controls to make space but it really was better to just cut off the remaining lever mount.

There was no issues, already had the rear fender chopped off but besides rainy days it was fine.
