Maybe less official looking. My property line is far enough back from the entry, if I put it on my side of the sidewalk, like all of the "watch for motorcycle" and political signs I see it would be ok. The Yellow would get seen, but they might leave the red and white alone. Mostly I want to get across is that the blinker means I'm turning, not just stuck from changing lanes. It's pretty ridiculous when my 11 year old gets flipped off by an adult driver because we are turning into our road. I'm not real expectant that I'll get cooperation from the DOT, though when I'm not so steamed about the way they are handling this area for the construction I'll try to compose a request.

I gotcha. I think it's a great idea. I say do it as you have laid out and then if the DOT will, let them put something official up still.

Remember I said I know how you feel? Here's the scene in front of my house about 45 minutes ago. Someone just trying to turn into my neighbors house and a woman in her SUV didn't see her. Luckily no one was seriously injured. I'd bet money the woman in the SUV was on her cell. The SUV plowed through a brick pillar in my neighbors driveway, so that's why you see bricks scattered about.

In much of the rest of the "first world" IE Europe, Japan and many others, holding a cell phone while driving is illegal. Usually with a heavy fine. I vote for that.

Insert a "Women Drivers!" wisecrack here. ;D
Here in Cali cell phones are illegal but lots of people still talk and text and I swear I want to strangle many of them.

Around here the cell phones are only illegal in some districts. A woman was killed last summer 15 miles from here when she was walking and a texting teen hit her, and it's still not illegal here, yet. I honked at a woman last week to get her moving when the light changed and she just drove through the intersection without ever taking her eyes or thumbs from her phone. It's scary Can't defend my kind there. On the other hand, it's the guys that are more likely to cut me off in my own lane trying to get around me when I'm already over the speed limit. :help:

I think that if a person is walking and a car hits 'em it's kinda their fault for not being vigilant and expecting the traffic lights and signs to keep 'em safe. I saw a report about a traffic engineer that took away all trafic controls in some town in The Netherlands and the accident rate dropped dramatically because people had to look and think for themselves. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Monderman

In this case it was a back country highway after dinner stroll. Car drifted over and hit from behind in a 55. That's kind of interesting though. I wonder how long it took to catch on. We have a transformer in the area that seems to get zapped pretty often, when it goes the street lights go on auto blinking red, folks will just sit there waiting...lalalala...waiting for something to tell them to go. The roundabout? Maybe it's just this town, but the one roundabout we have confuses the heck out of people. They say the accident rate went up by 30% on the intersection, but it was ok, because the physical damage was less due to the slower speeds, LOL.
