I live on this nifty little dead end, but the drive for my road is off of an expressway. When they built the expressway here they blocked off our exit onto the low traffic road as they thought it would confuse people, so to exit we can only go one way, to go the other way we go around the block to end up where we used to exit LOL, it's as stupid as it sounds. So, nobody believes us when we turn on our blinkers to turn in, in my car, or on my scooter...so to avoid getting run down I wiped out pulling into my road too fast. Got up and swore alot, the car that almost ran me down did pause for half a second before continuing on, as did the other twenty cars speeding by. Sheesh, glad I wasn't seriously hurt. Honestly, people yell at us, flip us off, and I've actually had someone yell at me " Hey your blinker is on!" as I try to turn into this road :bfg: . Even funner in winter when they plow the expressway and leeve the snow piled in our entry. Anyway, twisted knee and ankle ( the foot I broke last fall ) Gonna hurt tommorow. Scooter damage, fan shroud, and nifty chrome air scoop, mashed, and a little road rash on my new paint job. :swear: :censored: :stumped: Takes the fun out of it. :banghead:

That sucks. Our house isn't on an expressway, but I've seen some stupid stuff over the years trying to turn in here. Lots of skid marks, someone took out the neighbor's yard/mailbox trying to avoid hitting a friend, every time you go to turn you watch the folks behind you praying they slow down... I know where you're coming from. Hope the aches aren't as bad as you expect tomorrow morning.

That's it right there, always watching behind to see what they're going to do. 9 times out of ten someone will quick zip into my lane thinking to go faster, then have to zip back into the second lane to avoid us, blinkers brake lights and all...semi's are the best, usually you get a little space as they go from a stop a bit slower from the intersection..but when you get a fast one look out! The front end on my little car makes the worst noises from getting beat up on that turn all the time. I hope it don't hurt too, I have an 8 1/2 hours on my feet tommorow

These two-wheelers go down pretty fast. Sorry about the hurt to you and your scoot. Did you hit some gravel? Too bad you can't just give your scoot some ibuprofen too.

LOL, well I threw away the chrome air scoop, and I had a spare fan and fan cover from a previous engine swap so she's patched up not too bad. I had just painted her all nice, and I'll have to redo now. When the humidity goes away some day. The only thing on the road surface I can see is bits of rotten wood scattered about, suppose I could have rolled off of that on a lean :stars: Next time I'll try the other tactic, ride real slow and make them all stop behind me as I turn in...ever so careful like

Me this morning, "OUCH OUCH OUCH :barf: " I called in. So much for those extra hours on my check  . It's not so bad as long as I remember not to bend the darn knee. Heat for muscles?

Thanks. It's just a knee sprain, but a good one ;D I've got tough tendons, the heal brake last year was the tendon stretched as far as it would go so it popped the heal bone off by 1/3. Now that hurt I have tommorow off to sit on my bumm too, should be fine. I avoided the road rash at least. Took some threads off my jacket though. That's what I wear it for :stars:

That is exactly what you should do every time.

LOL, did I mention there is road construction at the bridge, the traffic is suposed to be going less than 30, but as they hit my spot 50yds. down from the intersection, it's kindof the breakaway from the bottle neck. That is going on thru Nov. Kind of frustrating that the most dangerous part of my commute is the driveway. Honestly most people don't even realize there's a road here and think we put our blinkers on as a lane change or accident. I was thinking of asking for a bigger road sign or something. What can someone put up on their own to mark a road better? I am limping about much better today

You need a watch for turning scooters sign out there or just a silhouette of a scooter on a sign like a scooter crossing!

"WATCH FOR TURNING VEHICLES" I like that. Same problem with our cars...I wonder how far from the road I could put that. Hmmm, I shall look into that. There was a big realtors sign in front of the dead end sign, as the house is off the market I moved it over to the part of the property that is for sale on the other side of the entry. Thought maybe it distracted from the road signs. This will cost me about $50 for reflective aluminum, what do you think?

Good deal. Might wanna speak with the DOT or something though. You'd need the sign pretty far from the actual turn. Don't want anyone pulling it up. Maybe they could be persuaded to install an official sign?
