Hello everyone just joined was kinda lurking around as a guest for a day or two. So I'm in the process of doing a bit of research on my first scoot. I'm kinda of drawn to the tao tao's. I have read about the issues people have been having. What else might be a good starter one want to keep it in the 50cc range. Less to deal with for the state. Also any recommendations on decent dealer in Michigan I'm in the Port Huron area.

 to the forum holydiver.  Don't know Michigan, but Scooters To Go is a member here that sells scoots and parts and is located in Grand Rapids I believe. Bintelli is a brand I've heard good things about lately. Prices are steeper than TaoTao though. You can find many scoots very similar to the TaoTaos with different names. |

Welcome aboard! Might not be a bad idea to check your local Craigslist and see what's around. If you get lucky you'll find a low miles quality scoot for around the same or less cost.

Welcome  the Bintelli Sprint is a great little scooter, it has a gates belt, NGK plug, Motobat battery and stainless steel hardware, very nice fit and finish, they sell for for $1000 and make a great entry level scooter. speaking from my experience with taotao i would stay away unless you are mechanically inclined. |

Don't know any scooter dealers near you. I have a DongFang DF50STE that is exactly like the Taotao ATM50-1 that Brent has. No problems with it.
On Craigslist, the used scooters in MI. tend to go for too much money. People want way too much for them. A local online auction house had a 2007 Schwinn 50cc, 139QMB engine. The high bid was $800 which I think was full price (I wouldn't have paid more than $500 for it). The owner didn't sell it because it wasn't enough money.

Love me some Dio it's a shame he passed.
A fat lot of nothing near me. I did notice that people seemed to be asking crazy money heck a lot of them well over retail for used. But I have a craigslist app searching for me want to give it a week or two then see about buying new. I'm over on the west side of the state for work for a few days so I'm going to see what I might be able to find. Lol don't know how I'd get home though.

Being that I'm currently just looking at 50cc I'm not sure how I feel about a 250 mile trek Like that just yet.

Look up superior scooter in CT, they will ship anywhere for a cheap shipping price, they have sym, taotao, wolf, bintelli, Jonway and others.
the Bintelli Sprint is a great starter so is the Jonway Agility 50.
the wolf is a larger framed scooter and very comfortable.
he even has a few different 2 stroke models.

Icebears are legit, I work for a company that sells them, and we also sell Tao taos... So far none of the Icebears have had to come back for anything other than tuneup. Also a stock 50cc Icebear beats a stock Tao Tao, also a 80cc Icebear beats a 100cc Tao Tao... (Same head/cylinder company different size bores) so far from what we have observed the Icebear is almost comparable to tawain quality. We sell them new for 795 lol
