Simple Oil Temperature Gauge

Well I got the idea from a post on here. Being the improvising redneck that I am I went to Walmart & bought a meat thermometer. I then cut off the end of my dipstick and drilled a hole through it. Heated the thermometer and pushed it through the hole giving it a twist to set it.

*Wanted to note that I cut the stick off, filed it smooth and drilled from the bottom up.















And there ya go! A working oil temp gauge.

I've seen it up just over 220. No leaks or any other problems. I've been running it for about 2 weeks now. I did squirt just a little RVT in the hole before i pushed it through. I also transferred the fill markings from the original dipstick, so that it still works to check the oil level.
