So you're saying the high beam no longer works or the low beam? Or is it the switch that gives power to the hi/lo switch that's malfunctioned?

The Highbeam no longer works and its AC powered. My soon to arrive KLR650 sounds like it has the same problem listening to my nephew. On researching the KLR I have sighted info that says the problem can be fixed with 2 relays I suppose one for hi beam and one for lo beam. The sighted info was a guy saying to his mate come round I will fix it you need 2 relays Anyway I have done a lot of things with relays myself and my friend tell me the switch will have dirty contacts. I had problem with the horn on my GY6 powered RM the horn was AC powered So the cure involved switching the relay on with DC then the other circuit passed AC to the horn Switches get dirty passing AC but when you have a electromagnet snapping the contacts closed it not a problem Oh well i was hoping for a simpler fix. 2 bikes to fix will take time

why not just install a switch or rewire your old one to jump the connectors on the bottom of the bulb?

12v relays are DC. If hi element in bulb(s) are good. & wiring from light back to switch is good. Buy a new hi/lo switch for like $5.00? Or am I missing something???

See the diagram terminal 30 would have 12v dc terminal 85 goes to ground so that part need to have 12volt dc. terminals carry the load and are capable of carrying AC as i have done this sort of thing before. I have a friend that has a car transporter with a 24volt winch it has 2 12volt starter relays one for forward one for reverse it runs 12v dc lo voltage side and 24 v dc thru the load side. He was concerned about it when he got the truck about 7 years ago it gets used everyday and works fine its cold today

why not just install a switch or rewire your old one to jump the connectors on the bottom of the bulb? My current line of thought is to wire lo beam to go as soon as the engine runs. Hi beam will be made to go with the switch and a relay
