So I bought another Hyosung Sense(I know I know) for my gf. When I test drove it everything seemed fine. It started right up and ran well. It seemed under powered compared to my old Hyosung Sense that I ride but I thought maybe mine had been derestricted or something and this one hadn't. When I test drove it I noticed that the ehaust tone was a lot different and that the tip of the exhaust was missing. I pointed it out to the seller and he changed it out for another used Sense exhaust. It fired up fine again and sounded better. On my ride home, after I paid the guy for it and left , I noticed that it was WAY under powered compared to my older Sense and I noticed a funny rattle and the exhaust sounded different again and after ideling for less than a minute it just shut off. It's done that several times. If I don't keep giving it gas it will start to stumble and eventually stall. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to want to rev as high as my other Sense. I was thinking that maybe it was an exhaust leak and maybe I'm losing back preasure making it run poorly but I didn't see anything when I was looking at it. Also, when the guy took of the old exhaust and put the other one on I didn't see a gasket or anything on either of the exhausts'. Any ideas what could be causing the loss of power and the stalling? I'm going to try to check some things out when I can but right now there is a big tropical storm heading our way and I don't know when I'll get to it. Hopefully this weekend. I just want to get it running well so my girlfriend and I can go ride around togther. I'm going to link some videos so you guys can hopefully hear and see what I'm talking about. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBpTfuF09t4www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRDqvEHkkw0

hhhmm :stumped: , This just dosnt make Sence lol  ! Sorry i had to :spin: . I would check the usual stuff first, airfilter, sparkplug, even the cvt. Sometimes the air in the tires can make a world of difference! If they are low that is? I hate to bring that one up but its true. Some people take offense to that one , no punt intended here. Its like getting asked if your switch is on, or if you have gas lol. Have you ever put lighter rollers in your older Sense?

I haven't touched either of them other than checking the spark plug and changing the battery in my old sense. I don't take offense to the tire preasure comment. I'm open to any suggestions. I don't think that's it though. It runs rough when it's just sitting there with out me on it. Lol.

It wouldn't hurt to make sure there isn't and exhaust leak, but I don't think that's gonna be your problem. It would probably run about the same or maybe have more torque with an exhaust leak vs s stock exhaust. On top of what 2strokd mentioned, I'd think maybe a jetting and mixture setting issue and/or dirty carburetor.
It would be a good idea to make sure your airbox/filter is clean and unclogged. If you decide to mess with the exahsut leak, try maing a quick run with the exhaust off. If it goes faster, you've got restrictions in your exhaust or a clogged up exhaust.

I have a Zuma with a leaking exhaust in the shop now. The owner said when the exhaust started to leak it ran stronger! Its an older Zuma to, so im betting the exhaust is clogging up. Makes sense, could be the problem??? Hope ya get it!

I was just out on it for a little bit and it honestly sounds more like a 4 stroke than a 2 stroke with the same rattling noise. I'll check the air filter when it finally stops raining and I have time during the day. It did the same thing with two different exhausts on it so I don' know if that's where I'm losing power. It just sounds like an exhaust leak to me, but it probably isn't. Any chance it could be a head gasket??

Sure it could be a head leak. It wouldnt hurt to take the fan shroud off and look at the head/cylinder mating surface for a leak. You will see a wet or oily spot around the leak if there is one. Same applies to the rest of the engine...If you do a good cleaning and see wet spots around any mating surfaces after a good run, you have a leak.

Ok, I'll check it out. Last night I was thinking the sound was coming from behind the fan shroud actually. That's where it seemed to be the loudest. I hope it's not a head/cylinder gasket, I don't really have the right tools to fix it or the experience and getting things fixed at a shop here is all but imposible due to the language barrier.

If it has a lot of miles(or kilometers) on the engine, that could be 'piston slap' which means that there is excessive wear in the piston/cylinder.As the engine heats up the compression gets less and the scooter stalls.A compression check would tell you how much wear the engine has..

It has a little over 6000KM on it. My old Sense has almost 11000KM on it and it runs great. Lol.

So, I climbed under the scooter today and there is a big oily wet spot right about where the cylinder meets the crank case(please correct me if I am using the wrong terms). I'm guessing that the cylinder gasket has a leak in it. Which might explain why it idles a little better when it warms up. It's deffinatley not an exhaust leak and my air filter looks good. I'm going to take it back to the shop I bought it from tomorrow and try my hand at Korean again. Lol. My boss who is Korean knows the guy and talked to him for me one day so hopefully he will take care of it right.

Sounds like your best bet... Maybe a trade in already? If you end up needing more help some pics (if possible) are worth a thousand words!

I looked at it again today and the whole under side of the scooter right where the cylinder meets the case is coated with oil. I tried to take a few pictures. All of them are right around the center stand.

Wow. You aren't kidding. That thing's been leaking oil for some time now. I can't really say whose pics tell me anything about where it's coming from though. Whatever it is, it needs to be fixed. You're gonna have to pull the engine shrouds off to get a good look.

The one thing i hate most about oil injection ! When you get a leak, YOU GOT A LEAK ! Not saying it is the oil injection, but it could be? If you have a leak up top somewere gravity will make it look like its something else... Might have to clean it up to find the leak source?
