I have a Toto GT5 50, and have owned it for nearly a year. I so far have been satisfied by it for the most part. During the spring, summer, and fall, I ride a 39 mile round trip through the country about every other day. With that said, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for some upgrades to increase my top end. I would preferable like to stay away from increasing the engine size, and leave that as a last resort.

I dont know if your scooter has a rev limiter or how to remove it. You can buy a no rev limit CDI Dial in CDI and carb and good tyres

Some sliders in the variator may give you a bit more top end. Changing to lighter roller/slider weights will raise the RPM shift range, and still give you the same final gearing for the most part... the sliders are supposed to give you just a little bit more on bottom and top gearing, as they allow the variator to both close more, and open more. Ive been told the rule of thumb is to find what works best in roller weights, and then get sliders that are 1 gram heavier, which will give similar results. They sell tuning kits that come with 25 or 30 rollers of different weights, to help you find the weight that gives you best performance. So.. if you find 6 gram rollers to run the best, then 7 gram sliders would put you at about the same RPM shifting range. the tuning kit looks like this: and sliders: dr pulley koso

A couple other possibilities that come to mind without increasing displacement are:
(1) timing advance (2) compression increase
the timing can be slightly advanced at the pickup. 90GTVert has a video showing the mod
a little bit of an increase in compression can be had by removing the base gasket that sits under the cylinder itself, and replacing the original gasket with a thinner layer of ultra-copper rtv, either the tube or.. i think they have it in a spray can nowadays. anyhow, that would add a bit of compression, you would want to make sure your valves and piston still had good clearance. I haven't tinkered with this mod myself on one of these engines.
With either of these mods, you would want to be on the lookout for spark-knock/pinging, I think either would do fine running 93 octane/premium gas but better to be sure, spark knock can cause some damage.
