That's how I take mine apart. Just changed one on a Triton with 8k miles. It was hard and a gentle tap didn't get it but a whack as hard as I could did.

You get the nut broke loose then set pulley on floor put your feet on the clutch and spin the nut off the rest of the way

I know. Once i broke mine loose, there wasn't anything holding it really. It wasn't even tight to be honest. It was a whack, then a whiz of parts.
