Tought my future Sister in law how to change the oil on her scoot, she did good. When I saw this I did a spit take. My ex used to refer to having sex with her ex-BF the diesel mechanic as changing the oil.

Hopped on the scoot for work this morning and got about 1/2 mile from the house before the header flange broke off. Luckily I was able to limp it back home. Damn, yet another breakdown, really getting the gist of what scootering is all about. Sure am glad this didn't happen last weekend when I was 20 miles from home. Now I gotta find someone that welds SS.

Fitted the new crank seals. Just one less job to do, to get it back on the road.

Took an EPIC ride, at least it was epic on my level! I left Scootopia around 11:30 with no definite route planned dressed in my usual shorts, tennis shoes and a ball cap. The weather was forecast to be a little cooler (below 90) so I knew it would be a good day to ride. Earlier today I was watching some old Evil Knievel videos and saw him slam his head real hard. It got me thinking about my head again and I decided if I ended up near the Harley shop I would at least stop and look at helmets.I headed north on backroads and ended up near the SC/NC coastal border. I have been wanting to do some riding along the NC coast, but NC requires a helmet, and I was nowhere near the Harley Shop. I also like to check out Pawn Shops on occasion so I stopped at one I was near. I have tried many Pawn shop helmets and have never found one that even came close to feeling like it would fit, as a matter of fact I usually dont even try to put them on because they are just too small. As I was looking around I spotted a red HJC helmet, a brand I recognized only because I have heard Brent mention them before. I tried it on and was surprised that it felt like it fit, almost. It had a price of $29 on it. I asked the guy how much he wanted for it , he said it had been there a long time and he would gladly take $20 for it. I figured why not? It is used, but at least I could continue my ride into NC. I put the helmet on and got my glasses kinda situated. They ended up being pinched between my head and the helmet and were suspended above my nose, not even setting on it, which was weird but it worked. (FYI my head is BIG and my glasses are very wide) So off I rode, up the coast of NC. I passed through some small towns I have not seen in quite a few years, Calabash, Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle, Then it occured to my that I should just ride up to Southport and take the ferry over to Fort Fisher, something I have always wanted to do on a scoot. I arrived at the Southport ferry around 3:00 and I should have known the ferry would be full for it's 3:15 trip. As a matter of fact it was already half full for the 4:00 trip. I decided not to go because then I would have to turn around and come right back on one of the last two ferries from Fort Fisher back to Southport for the day, Or I would end up having to take the LOOONG way around on some major busy highways, no way was I going to do that. I ended up getting back home around 6:30, so I spent around 7 hours on the trip total, and logged 261 miles. It was quite a day for me and the Blue Kymco. I did a LOT of WOT riding today, and one stretch was around 50 miles mostly WOT on the route I took home. I almost ran out of gas a long way from anywhere. I was LUCKY I had a plastic bottle with some premix under the seat! My arms and face are sunburned pretty good too. As for the helmet, I kinda got used to it quickly. I have to say it is REALLY different wearing one, but I think I like it. I will be searching for a new one that fits my XL head AND allows me to wear my glasses properly.

Thank you, I can take you off the list of people I worry about when they ride their scooters.

Hey Oldgeek, if you can get a dark green faceshield (not one of those weird color changing ones) I'll bet you'll really like it! Carry the clear one in case you get caught at night. Or, I guess safety rated eyeglasses would pass muster.

Well yesterday I fitted new gators to the freshly painted forks. Fitted them back on the bike. Oiled and fitted the new Polini air filter. And replaced a broken boot on the carb adjuster cable. Drained out the petrol ready to premix.
Today I fitted the BBK. Starter gear, and stator. While I had the stand off, I tapped out one of the threads for the starter. Which was impossible to get to with the stand on. One of those jobs I had been meaning to do since I got the scooter. Cleaned up the rear brake shoes. Fitted the rear wheel, and engine into the scooter again. Put the newly painted exhaust back on.
Soon be ready for a first fire up. 😁

It was really nice not having to wear sunglasses, but as you say, if setting off in the evening, be sure to carry clear glasses with you.

My helmet has a drop down dark visor. It makes it a bit heavier but it allows me to use the same shield day or night

Has anyone seen the film Christine? First start up after total engine rebuild. Started up straight away. Let it tick over for a minute. All good, till I tried to turn it off. Had a mind of its own. Kept running, and running. Wife thought it was hilarious.
