Hi guys. I am new to this forum so I just wanted to say thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I bought a used 2003 Vento Triton R4 this past March. It has been working very well and is still working great as far as the engine goes. However I just started running into a problem where my front and rear bulbs are blowing when I am driving. I can put new bulbs in and start the scooter and both the front and rear bulbs work, however is soon as I give the scoot some gas they all blow. Let me give you some background on what happened. I was driving along with my lights on this past friday, I look down and I notice the little blue light on the instrument panel that indicates the lights are on started glowing really bright blue, almost blinding blue, like a blue LED light, about 10 seconds later the blue light died along with the front and rear bulbs. I am pretty sure that blue light probably is done for but I dont care about that much. All i care about is that my front and rear lights work. So I am not sure if this is an issue with the stator or the voltage regulator. I bought a brand new battery when I got the scoot in march so the battery should be fine. The horn and electric starter as well as all 4 turn signals work fine.
I want to get your opinions on what the problem might be and what part I should start with first. I assume the regulator is the cheapest part to replace but if you guys feel it might be the stator I can try that as well. Please let me know your thoughts. And if possible can you tell me where a good place to buy these parts online.

It's the rectifier. They go bad easily. You can get them pretty cheap. You don't really need one specific to your scooter if you want to use a multi meter and figure out where each wire goes. That's what I did... ended up spending like $8 or so said and done.
Mine wouldn't blow right away though, only when riding down the road for a few minutes full throttle. The lights would get way bright too. All of my brake bulbs actually LOOKED burned. The glass was charred.
Try the rectifier. I'd be willing to bet you it's the problem.

Thanks for the info guys. You are very quick! Since I am on a budget I think I will start with the rectifier first, just because I dont want to buy the stator if i dont have to. I took my rectifier out today and it looks just like the one I have attached to this post. Are they all pretty much the same? Thanks again for the help. Attachments:

Most are the same for a lot of the Vento mopeds. But still try the stator as well. Because the regular lights (brake, tail, head) circuit draws the current for power from the stator because the bulbs pull the ac voltage

I had to replace my CPI rectifier and got one from ebay.It didnt work so I checked the wiring diagram and found 2 wires were in different locations,I swapped the wires around on the rectifier plug and it now works,just a caution that all rectifiers may not 'plug and play'...

Ok, so I got a new rectifier but that doesnt seem to have worked. Should I go for the stator? Do I really need to purchase the flywheel puller as well? Or can I just use a regular wrench to remove it?

If your Triton is anything like mine, nothing is going to help. I switched over to all LED bulbs and ran them off the battery, left the AC circuit totally unused.

I removed my flywheel with a little tugging and a few taps from a hammer. Just depends on whether or not you want to risk it.

lol, i bought a puller for my first and it ended up coming off with just my figures snugging it up...

I tried the hammer taps method before and it didn't come close to working for me. I even had a 150 that a puller wouldn't remove the flywheel. A note on the LEDs... Reign has stated befor ethat they really aren't good for night riding if you go with an LED headlight. It's only good for being seen. You might wanna try to test the stator before buying one. Yea, If you're not in a residential area that uses street lights, I wouldnt suggest a LED headlight. I've driven down dark roads with mine before, and it does illuminate the road to some degree, but I would never want to push it further than a few blocks at most. There's honestly only 3 things you can try to change. The rectifier, the stator, and the wiring. Oh, and take it from a guy who's done it before with bad results. Never try to hook up your 35W headlight directly to the red wire off the rectifier I ended up frying the rectifier, which fried the stator, which fried my wiring

Since you have gone through this before is there anything you can offer me as far as expertise? Or is it pretty straight forward?
