Ducati also has what they call a supermotard IIRC that looks cool/fun, but when the engines get so big I have to think you're losing part of the beauty/point of the class. Well on my KLR650 i am hoping to get 50-60 mpg if I ride like Nanna I could get 70 mpg. Cheaper to run than a lot of 2 stroke scooters here There are guys in their 70s that ride KLR650s You can get BBKs and there is a stroker crank due to be released and lots of mods

I forgot about them, but I had seen older versions of the BMW becasue they used them in Long Way Round and Long Way Down where Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman rode across the globe. Nice bikes, just for me part of the reason the supermotos look so fun is because they're light and not terribly expensive.

Too big though for me, I like things you can throw around. Not get a hernia putting it on the centre stand. Still would like a super Moto at some point.

For street/dirt combo the 250cc is about the best. Plenty of power, fast enough for freeway speeds and still light enough for maneuvering on the dirt. 450cc is too heavy, I don't know how the guys in Supercross can ride them, the 250cc's are the best of both worlds.

I imagine a 450 would be extremely aggressive and difficult to control

A ladyfriend has been threatening to buy a Camper Van and I am allowed to borrow it as she likes me on 4 wheels not 2 wheels. She is too scared to get on the back of the Scooter the KLR is another woman. Anyway the KLR has had a hard life but but it starts easy and appears to go well A friend has 10 acres up in the hills the record going uphill in his paddock is 70 mph set a long time ago by a 400cc 2t Yamaha a TT500 tried to better it but failed. Hope to put a wireless cycle speedo on the KLR and see how fast it goes up the hill
