I just got a stage 6 BBK and put it on. Starts up fine. Checked the plug and adjusted the main jet from a 80 to a 85. Plug seem to look a chocolate brown color. Did a couple drives at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Did this until I got a good read on the plug. Seemed ok right. Then went for a small spin down the road never going past 3/4 throttle. And all of a sudden it felt like the engine stopped and almost lock the wheel up. After that it started right up fine. But did again not to far down the road a second time. Could it be the ring are not gapped far enuff. I gap them at .008. I'm I screwed or what. I need help.

Tuning a carb is not just changing the main jet, most fried cylinders come at part throttle!Check your jet needle clip position,if its stock it should be in the middle, move the clip to the bottom groove and check it then, should be a good bit richer,Are you running the stock airbox?Do you have the stock oil injection settings?A 70cc cylinder may need the oil pump volume increased too..

True, most soft seizes with stock carbs are at 3/4 throttle. Might have an air leak? How did it idle and such, Smooth? Choppy?

The needle is already set on the bottom groove. I'm running a stock air box. If it was running lean it should show it through the plug right. Some one told me it mainly runs on the idle jet until almost full throttle. Then the main jet kicks in. Maybe good on the idle jet but not big enuf on the main jet. Would this cause is to soft seize like that.

Mikuni type carbs idle jets are effective to about 1/4 throttle, then the needle jet/jet needle to 3/4,then main(all overlapping). Here is the manual that gives you all the info; www.mikuni.com/pdf/vmmanual.pdf
