The battery has stopped charging on my ETON scooter. Initially I checked the voltage at the battery while running and it was like 10.5V I replaced the rectifier, did not fix it. Replaced the stator, did not fix it. Scooter runs fine with a jump which at least shows the stator to ignition system is working.
I checked the voltage at the batt wire harness terminals with the battery disconnected and still a low voltage 6-8V.
I made up a small test harness that allowed the stator voltage to go the rectifier but took the rectified DC output voltage to a meter only - and with the scooter running I see 14.5 V and caps at around 15 when rev'd - so to me this seems to show the new stator and rectifier are working when not connected to the rest of the wiring harness.
So my only conclusion is that when the rectifier is connected to the wiring harness, something is loading it such that it can't charge the battery. The rectifier output also goes to the starter and I think to the ignition switch and then gets routed out further.
Wondering if anyone has ever come across a problem like this. Any further tests to further troubleshoot ?

Have you considered its a bad battery? Sounds like an issue I had a couple years ago on a 150 I had.

Yes thought about it, but I don't get 14V at battery terminals with battery disconnected (when the scooter is running) - so battery is out of the circuit and still getting a low charging voltage (6-8V).

Welcome redrocket! I'm not sure if you'll get correct readings there without the battery. Check your battery voltage with the scooter off. If it's not near 13V, put it on a charger. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw3ikMEGh74

Didn't see it mentioned but what rpm are you testing at? You gotta do 2k+ on a car or truck to check the charging system. I know my kymcos headlight dims from a voltage drop at idle. I get full brightness around 3.5k but only idle at 2k.
