It's been quite a while and many miles since I've checked out my vari. Glad I decided to take a look as I had some issues going on that would've gotten much worse! My rollers were a bit flat-spotted, not too bad. Actually, the 4g Hoca ones that came with this vari are just fine. (I'm running a mix of 4's and 6's for an average of 5g roller weights). The main problem is that the little plastic guides are fubared! One is fine, one is half gone, and one was totally missing! You can see that the backplate was digging grooves into the posts of the vari without those little plastic guides in place. I already received new ones from Partsforscooters- the good Dr. Pulley ones- along with some 5g roller weights so now I can mix the 4's and 5's and see how I like that... Iv had a variator go the same way. I use these on both my bbk builds and they have worked out well so far. They are the heaviest/thickest Iv found so far that fit. I think the part # for your variator guides P.29585(Minarelli)

The blue ones are from/for Polini variators. Bought a set myself recently. They are probably generic and applicable with other types of variators.

Well looks like I might be joining the LC high power fun- I just picked up these two Malossi MHR 90 cylinders! One has been replated with 0 hours on it, the other has been ported by Hetrick Racing!

I think it's just the bike they like because of how light it is.

Don't those cylinders use that odd ball crank size? Like 42.3mm or something? Or do you have something different planned to use the more standard 44/45mm cranks? Either way your going to love these big hyper race motors. Can't wait to see what you come up with

Either way your going to love these big hyper race motors. Can't wait to see what you come up with Yes uses 44mm stroke w/85mm conrod. I found a few conversations about the ridiculously priced Malossi cranks for these cylinders and there are a couple other options. Here's a description from miniquadsracing.com: "Technical note : the BIG BORE cylinder kits must be used with 44mm x85mm crankshafts such as Kiesler ,Stage-6 or Malossi" There may also be a couple other options like a Simonini or BGM crank. I wouldn't mind using a BGM crank as they have a very good rep in the Vintage Vespa scene. Good products. The last detail is that the small end hole for the needle bearing must be 17mm to accept Malossi's 13mm piston pin. A crank with a 90mm conrod can also be used with Malossi's 5mm base spacer.... So, there are options. It'll take me a little while to gather all the LC conversion stuff but I'll eventually get it narrowed down.

The 50mm MHR cylinders arrived today! They're not brand new but both in pretty good shape. I thought I'd see more crosshatching on the replated one. Honestly I don't see much difference in the Hetrick Racing ported one. They didn't change the height of any of the ports- more like just removed some casting flaws which there doesn't seem to be much of. Both are chamfered nicely. One of the heads is also missing a couple gaskets. No big deal since I'll have to order a gasket set anyway. All in all I'm excited!
