I've read several different articles about the usefulness/possibility of adding a sidecar to a 49cc scooter. What are everyone's opinions or understanding of this as an option? Are there any good resources that I should check out?
Thanks for your help!

I've really never looked into them. My main concern with a 49cc scooter and a sidecar would be the weight. 49ccs often struggle enough with riding 2up, and a sidecar would be adding the additional weight of another steel frame, body, seat, and wheels. Of course it also would double the width of your scoot. If you live in an area where you must ride on shoulders, that doesn't give you a whole lot of buffer between you and traffic. I have seen them advertised in Vespa catalogs for over $1000. I think I'd just buy a 2nd scooter for that price.

What Brent said... A 49 with a side car would have trouble getting out of it's own way.
For some reason around me several of the "cheep scoot" sellers are carrying scooter trikes. Something like that MIGHT be usable, but still pushing the limits of what these little guys can do. And the way most of them are set up, the handling would be terrible.

Totally agree. Not enough power for the load, and too wide to safely let normal traffic get around you.

Well, if you could ever get up enough speed, I would think that deep standing water would pose a lesser hazard. :crash: :crash:
