Hi, folks.
After riding a 49cc scoot for 2 months (a 2009 E-ton Matrix 50) and loving it, I got a 149cc today. A local dealer here got what appears to be some factory overstock and so had a pretty good price on some Chinese 150s. So I got a 2008 Longbo Adventure... which, I've found out, is the same as a Roketa Fiji.
Details here: www.longboamerica.com/product.php?productid=7&cat=0&page=1.
I did see this same bike available through a couple of online dropshippers, at roughly the same price I paid for it, but I'm happier having someone local to deal with-- and to help with service when needed.
I've got the E-ton in blue, and the Longbo in red, so it looks exactly like the photo.
So how do they compare? I'm sure that I am not about to reveal anything that you folks don't know much better than I do... but of course, the 149cc is faster... in both speed and acceleration. From a stop, the 49cc accelerates slowly; it doesn't take long to get to cruising speed, but it isn't immediate. On the Longbo, I feel like I can keep up with traffic much better.
I do wish I'd had a chance to try out a Matrix 150, however... because the overall quality of the Taiwanese E-ton does seem to be considerably better than the Chinese Longbo. The plastic fairings on the Longbo seem much flimsier, and-- most surprisingly-- the E-ton has a better suspension. Not that either of them are bad, but when riding over the same road at the same speed, on the E-ton I feel the bumps a lot less. And in Phoenix, there are some pretty bumpy roads. (I guess that tends to happen when your state essentially goes bankrupt.)
Oh, and they sound completely different-- which makes a heckuva lot of sense since one is a 49cc 2-stroke and the other is a 149cc 4-stroke. But the 4-stroke sounds more like a motorcycle, while the 2-stroke... sounds like a wasp. (I guess this is where the Vespa got its name.)
I just moved, and am keeping the E-ton at my parents' house and the Longbo at my apartment. I'll continue to ride both, and will letcha know how things go and how I feel about the new scoot when I've had a chance to ride it for more than one day.
On a side note: anybody have a Qlink? I took a look at the Pegasus and Rave while at the shop; they looked pretty nice. 16" wheels on the Pegasus, I think. Will look into it further.
Havin' fun, hope you are too!
