Made a hand choke attachment so i can put the side panel back on for good. Used a plastic hanger, and some of these beebee's that turn into mold-able plastic once put in boiling water, and becomes 100% solid when put into cold water. got it all setup, works great. Choke opened up all the way. and then closed all the way

I successfully found and replaced the stock carb with an after market ( was only $16 ) here is the link. www.ebay.com/itm/172023372970?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITbolted right up, fit perfect. even came with the throttle slide and pin ( had no idea they came with carbs ) took a lot of looking and measuring to find one that would fit. it wasn't idling so i put in the jets from the stock carb, into the aftermaket 16 dollar one. It did take a bit to get it to even idle. but after a little bit i got it, idling and running great. Im suprised everything went as smooth as it did, from all the threads ive read There is no aftermarket carb that will fit and bolt right on, all the vm22's and vm20's were way to big for the bike. heres some pics of it, and the Keihin Carb Carb # 00ACKB Smaller jet = 95 bigger jet = 105 i believe (not 100% sure, will have to look) had my girl friend film a short video to, so you guys can hear how it sounds.

guys, i found a guy who converted his choke into a manual choke. but im not exactly understanding how he did it. did he run a line from where the choke goes. to a valve, then to where the vacume tube goes on the intake? i dont think im understanding this right. heres the thread, its towards the bottom by Bear 45/70. if anyone can help explain how this is done i would be so thankfull! motorscooterguide.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=792
there are also more people who have done it on pages 3 and 4. my intake only has the Vacume tube, and oil tube on it.

the stock carb is 114mm(4 1/2 inch) from the bottom of the float bowl to the throttle cap. all the vm22's im finding are much bigger than that and wont fit.

yeah i'm actually very surprised it runs as good as it does with the choke hole wide open like that. i can hit about 45-50mph on the speedometer. currently i have the mix screw 2 1/3 turns out, and the idle screw 1 3/4 turns out. and it seems to be running okay. only thing is, is that if i give it 1/4 - half throttle it gives no power to the wheel and will bog down and die once i let off. i added a washer to the throttle like Florida suggested which made it a little better but there is always that zone where if i throttle there to long it will die after i let off, any suggestions?
im very peranoid of destroying my engine with this wonky carb setup that i have, but i dont want to spend the 80 bucks the vm22's cost. ahhg anyone know of any cheaper vm22's that will work?

Hey florida, thanks for the input. I will look into doing the washer. but real quick.
Am i actually at risk of destroying my engine just because the by starter is missing, and is just an open home? i honestly didnt think of that.

im super relieved to have it running decent again. it still almost dies after acceleration so hopefully i can adjust that out. i actually bought this bike from a co worker for $100, it barely ran at the time. he found it on the side of the road, with a free sign on it. i just changed the tire. here is what the old one looked like. literally on the brink of failing.

Success! Thanks for the suggestion Atariguy I cleaned where the float valve goes with a q tip with some baking soda and water on it. re assembled everything, put a UNI air filter on it ( original air filter was barely working at all) and boom runs perfect now. went to the gas station about a mile a way with out issue. hit about 45mph with it. very happy, thank you guys so much
