I'm having the same dilemma almost. I bought new mirrors because I was initially missing one. Well I put the right side on fine but the left side, the hole is stripped so bad the mirror won't hold. So when I get time and when the weather is good, I'm going to mix up some JB Weld and fill the hole. Not all the way, I'm going to try and just coat the inside with a good layer, then re-tap it and see if it works. If it does, I'll put it all in my post. That would be the better way I'd think, so you're not permanently gluing in your mirror you know. In case you have to remove the plastic to replace a bulb or relay or something. Dad already tried using the JB quick on it to hold the metal inserts in place in the mirrors, it didn't hold to the plastic part of the mirrors.

Oh, I was meaning put some JB in there and let it set first. Then re-tap the hole. Use a tooth pick or some small stick to apply it to the walls, make sure it's clean in there. I've seen people use JB like this before and it's failed, but that was on holes under high stress and torque. These should be ok with this method I'd hope. Hey, if you want to wait for me to do it and see how it works, I'd be happy to be the guinea pig lol.

You can be the guinea pig this time lol. I am still in the hospital. Doc said I might get to go home tomorrow but it will be a couple of months before I can do much on this new knee. After this one heals I get to do it all over again with the left knee. My new apartment was supposed to be ready by the 3rd but it isn't ready so I still have to move after all this. Don't worry, we'll all still be here when you get to work. Just think of all the knowledge you'll have when you are ready to get into it!

Just a quick update. Sorry I have not been on here for awhile but with the surgery, moving, and physical therapy three days a week I have not had time to do much of anything. The scooter is still at my Mom and Dad's place for now. I finished therapy a week ago Wednesday but the weather has just been too bad to get it here for one and two I want to make sure that I can secure it some how first. Didn't figure that I would be on the 2nd floor and would have 24 steps from the drive to the front door of my apartment. I thought I was going to be on a lower floor and I could just pull it inside when not in use or working on it. It is like the all saying if I didn't have any bad luck, I'd have no luck at all I guess. Right now the only way I would have to secure it is with a 20 foot 1/2" coil chain run through both wheels, and the frame and a pad lock to the downstairs railing. I got a handlebar mount and a GPS for the scooter so I might be able to get by with that for the speedo till I can find the right cable for it. Hopefully not only will the weather clear up so I can at least get out there to supervise getting it running properly but that I'll have time between surgeries to actually ride it before the next knee replacement in about four more months. Bad thing is I might have to have another surgery before then. I will find out about that this Thursday. At least the recovery time on that one is just a few weeks, bad thing is it is fixing a pinched nerve in my back. I will try to keep you all up to date on the progress or lack there of as much as I can and thank you all for the great advice so far.

Sorry to hear of all of your struggles. Hopefully they'll get you fixed up sooner or later and you'll feel better than you prob have for a long time. We'll be here whenever you're ready.

After two more surgery's o different things and another one to come here in a few months my health and the weather finally let me start working to this thing. I am to the point right now that if it was a horse it would have a broken leg and I'd have to shoot it to put it out of it;s misery. This thing is driving me batty. At first couldn't get it to start at all, but a few shots of starting fluid got it firing for a few seconds.Since the carb rebuild last October it has been sitting without being fired up or tested. We have spent the last two days trying to get the settings set right and no luck. One minute it will not idle without dieing the next it is running wide open without touching the throttle all without changing a thing. I'm at my wits end. I have a month and a half before they do a total knee replacement on my left knee to match my right one that was done in Nov 2014, I'd like to be able to ride before then. I bought my Tags last Oct and have been paying on insurance for a scooter that I have not been able to ride since I out the tags on it. Any idea on what to try next or should I start trying to locate a cheap replacement carb. It is a Mikuni 19mm carb on it I think.

Sitting that long it's time for another drain and flush of the fuel system along with checking the lines and filter and cleaning the carb.

The fuel system had been totally drained when I rebuilt the carb. I never replaced the fuel in it or in the carb till the other day when we started working on it. I drained the fuel back then and Dad used it in the mower because I wanted to make sure it wasn't the ethanol in the fuel messing up things. I bought some 93 octane 100% gas for it the other day and put it in the dry tank. I'm thinking I may have the settings wrong on the carb. It's been too long since I rebuilt it to remember what the settings were before. Also I think I have a throttle cable issue that is causing it to run wide open after you touch the throttle.

Carb secure? Intake cracked? Any obvious signs of leaks around the reeds?

Not that I can see. And the carb is secure. What are the pros and cons of getting a new carb but the next size up?

Pros would be it's a new carb lol, and it could potentially provide better cooling and support more power. Cons would be potentially a difference in fuel economy, throttle response, and reaction to weather conditions... plus it will prob cost more than a stock carb and you may have to buy jets to fit it so you can get it in tune.
No vacuum ports left unplugged? I keep asking about leaking stuff because bad intake leaks can cause pretty severe surging at times or runaway idle.

Was just thinking, the running wide open started after removing the carburetor again to double check everything and to put the A clip back on. I wonder if the clamps were tightened up enough and it is letting air in. My brothe tightened up the clamps for me since I have no gripping strength in my right hand since the nerve damage to my right arm. I'll check it next time I am out there. Eventually I will put on a BBK or swap out the engine with a 150cc one and maybe replacing or converting the oil tank into a reserve fuel tank.

For now once I get this running right, what can I do to it without changing the CC´so to get it to go at least 45mph cruising speed with a 270 lbs rider onboard or is even posible? Also if anyone has a Baccio VX50 can you measure the Speedo cable and tell me the correct length of it. Mine is completely missing and I need f to replace it.

An aftermarket exhaust would be your best bet to pick up speed without a BBK. That will also require CVT tuning because you'll lose low end power with most pipes that give you much of a gain on the top end so be prepared to swap rollers and clutch springs and maybe a contra spring. It may also require some carb tuning.
