I modded my 49 cc scooter to 80 cc scooter and now every time I start it up or Revit up it makes a popping sound that's why I think it's exhaust leak what is the best way to fix it and Will a exhaust leak hurt anything by the way it is still a stock muffler and pipe thanks for looking can't wait to hear the response

Yes, it can hurt the motor. It's sucking air in through the exhaust and burning a lean mixture. Make sure your exhaust gasket is where it should be, some styles like my Kymco make it easy for the gasket to slip out of where you want it as you tighten the exhaust to the cylinder. If it's in it's place, I'd try a new un-crushed gasket.

It's bad for the reasons themajekalbum mentioned. In a pinch you can slather existing gasket/washer with Permatex Ultra Grey Motoseal1 until you get a good gasket. It works for sealing exhausts great. ( I feel like they should be paying me some sales royalty for how often I recommend this stuff lol)

When installing exaust , always tighten flange to head first , then tighten other clamps. Did exaust gasket/ ring get replaced ? Or fall out when you weren't looking? Wouldn't go too long before fixing exaust leak , hot gasses can deform head @ flange area or eventually will burn a valve on a 4t. Also make sure exaust studs are fully seated , if you have the long acorn style nuts they can bottom out before fully pulling up pipe flange. Hope any of my babbling helps?

most likely you do have an exhaust leak. i have checked and resurfaced many exhaust flanges on scooters where they had leaks and the gaskets are not sealing. the best gasket I have used is a copper tube that crushes on proper torquing. In a pinch you could use one the John (tvnacman) has on his site, it is designed like an old exhaust manifold gasket. to hold the round gaskets in place while hanging the exhaust, use a little grease on the gasket. To support the exhaust use a 'bungy cord' to support the muffler at the back and snug all the bolts until everything aligns good, then torque the exhaust nuts first. here are a couple photos of exhaust flange resurfacing. the first is one just started. the last is it as far as i cared to go along with a 150cc completed
