Thanks Fox, that is an interesting idea.
Does anyone know how long you should run the scooter in order to charge the battery? If I'm testing something, is five minutes in circles around the parking lot enough to make up for the drain on the battery starting it?

As long as it has enough power to start it it's charged enough. If it gets to a point where it's struggling to crank the engine then that's low. That's where the kick start lever comes in...
When I was new and didn't have all the right tools I took my scoot to a tire shop to change the weights cause I didn't have an impact wrench. Used their impact, handed the guy a few dollars and left. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

probably not sustainable.
I would say maybe like a 15 minute ride at least to charge the battery.

oh ok, thanks for letting me know, I just did some loops in the parking lot for about minutes only, I will go longer next time. It feels a lot better, but I still want to put the fork oil in it not just jiggle things around so they work temporarily. Max speed I got up to in the parking lot was 11 mph, that was at full throttle but I think I could have gotten up to 15 if I had more length, it still has trouble making it up any sort of hill, 3-5 mph at full throttle depending how steep.

Yeah there is definitely something very wrong with your scooter, you should be getting WAY past 15mph easily at least 30mph.

I had a charger like that for my riding lawn mower, I just saw it this morning, so it might work for my scooter too. I might give that a try.
Yes! And now that I've replaced the fork oil and it is sitting up and feeling so smooth now, I am ready to move on to this next order of business. Guess I'll find some tutorials on how to "clean the carburetor" and replace the fuel and vacuum lines, and there's probably a filter somewhere I should be changing out?
Post with pictures of the successful fork oil change incoming...

What is "middle stand"? The interesting symptom I've experienced is that sometimes, even on flat ground, at a constant speed, I will turn the knob to full throttle, and the engine will rev (I'll hear it), but the scooter does not move any faster, and then a little bit later it will pick up some speed, but again, really nothing over 15 mph. The most consistent symptom is that it cannot make it up a hill. I tested it on our steepest one and had to get off and push, it simply wouldn't go. But it goes 3-5 mph on even slight grades.

Oh man, that looks complicated and with tools I definitely don't have. So I shouldn't start out with something simpler first like the fuel lines. I will watch the whole thing when I get time and try and figure out how much the CVT inspection is going to cost me.

Here's my fork oil replacement. I tried adding a pvc pipe cap and a washer but the ones from Upgrayedd's tutorial that I bought were not the right size for my Gator. I have asked some questions in the pictures if anyone has time to answer them. I finally got that terrible fork cap nut lose by leaning the bike against a wall at a 45 degree angle so I could get more leverage, and finally got it to budge using my foot and the pipe wrench. I was unsure about how much oil to put in, the tutorial said to fill to the dust seal but the oil just disappeared down the whole and I couldn't see much so I just did my best to try to guestimate putting in at least a little more than I drained out. Hope you enjoy the pictures: 1. Not sure if I installed the wheel properly: i.imgur.com/F7CRdbq.jpg2. The fork cap: i.imgur.com/BTtksjH.jpg3. The oil that came out: i.imgur.com/MQYhUug.jpg4. Finished, I left the plastics off because I am sure I have tons more work to do before I can take it anywhere: i.imgur.com/DWfVRKj.jpg

It is NOT safe to ride it without the speedo puck. It keeps the wheel spaced properly so your brake disc stays true in the brake caliper. You can damage the caliper and/or warp your brake disc or both.
PS: If you keep riding it without fixing the CVT/belt drive issue it's gonna fail and leave you stranded and cost you even more money to fix it later.
