I just installed the 70cc kit on my 2 stroke Daelim S-Five after the install its not starting its sounds beastly when i try to kick start it but its not starting and the exhuast is making a pop noise when i try to start it like forcing air out. Any suggestions as to why its not starting? Should i try to lube the piston? Also what size main jet or carb should i use for the new engine size? Right now its a stock carb

Was there a problem with the engine before you installed the 70 kit? Did it just stop running while you were riding all of the sudden? Give us something to work with.

Just pull the plug out and check for a good blue spark.
If that's ok, check the compression with a $20 kit from Harbor Freight.
If both those check I would put just a thimble ful of gasoline into the spark plug hole and try again.
If STILL nothing, there may be something wrong with your kit, your timing is way off somehow or the way you installed the BBK.
Spark + Compression + Fuel = combustion

Give us something to work with. there was no problem before besides that it wouldnt go past 20 without warming up other than that it would start every try. The piston rings were a lil hard to slide through the head but it made it in im thinking maybe its not moving right because of the tight squeeze or that my carb isnt giving suficiant gas

Did you happen to use starting fluid to try to start the engine?

No i didnt. Is there a reason why the exhuast is making a pop noise like its shooting air out

Check the crank seal behind the variator and check your compression. You may have a blown seal.

You still need spark, check it by taking out the sparkplug, leaving it in the lead and rest it against the metal part of the frame, then kick or use e-start. You should see a little spark. If the carb was not changed then all you need to do is upjet, it should still start even without upjetting That leaves us with compression either you have a leak somewhere or you installed the kit incorrectly, Did you install the piston the right way? Did you torque the head nuts to spec?

The piston has an arrow on it that points toward the exhaust. You *should* have good compression considering it's a brand new top end, unless you didn't get the base gasket or head gasket sealed good. You'll need to upjet that carb if you haven't done so yet. If you haven't installed a bigger main jet in the carb I wouldn't even bother riding it yet...

Definitely sounds wonky......pull the exhaust, and look in the port while slowly turning the motor over....if you see a hole in the piston skirt, you have the piston in backwards..... The pop your hearing is probably blowdown compression escaping out the ex port instead of it getting directed to the boost port by the hole in the piston.......the arrow on the crown points to the ex port.....

I deff installed the pinston facing the right way. I think you may be right about the seals or gaskets i took a look around it and the head gasket isnt sitting correctly between the gap on the bottom side of it could that be the reason? If so for future reference what does this cause?
