thats a tuning guide. please disregard it if you cant get it running correct some where.
your problem right now is that your needle is in the wrong clip ruining the idle.
when that PROBLEM is solved refer to the guide. ----------
idle MUST BE FIXED and it sounds like the needle.

the variator weights etc are able to bog the engine or make it free revving. this effects the needle angle. tune the weights to better suit the needle angle. So you are saying that a lean running motor can be cured by using heavier weights? And that a rich running motor can be cured by running lighter weights? Or do I have this backwards?

(WOT) WIDE OPEN THROTTLE -The [main jet] and [wot needle diameter] and the [filter restriction] TOGETHER tunes ALL RPMS at wot. PART THROTTLE -The needle TAPER HEIGHT tunes the exhaust at part throttle. MIDRANGE THROTTLE -The variator roller weight tunes the needle angle for FINE TUNING the midrange. IDLE SPEED-The needle NOTCH height often needs to be in a certain range to get a good idle. any other questions?

i see my idle description is incomplete.
IDLE SPEED -if you have tuned WOT and part throttle tuned CORRECT- the idle speed and idle jet will be very easy to tune together by adjusting the idle screw.
