There are cheap buck converters available that could be used to power the microcontoller from either the AC or DC supply with a little work.

Sorry I am still learning about the different flywheels out there what is a large taper for? Usually a 12mm piston pin crank will have a large taper. The 90cc stuff is typically large taper. Ah thank you I have lots to learn atliest I can make the CDI with the 49 Mina Flywheel and it should still work with the larger 89 thanks to all who want to donate to this I just don't know what It needs yet. As for the spark I may develop The CDI to work with an automotive Coil much higher voltage or make a simple custom HV transformer and do an all in one.

Some of the guys here like the modern Coil Over Plug setup...I have not tried it yet...

Don't worry about reinventing the wheel so to speak. Coils in every configuration are available.

COP that's an idea too hmm? No plug wire sounds nice. Tomarow I will make a simpler 555timer based ignition modulated by an arduino PWM output It won't be CDI though the primary of the spark plug coil will see battery Voltage. If it works then I will make a simple inverter to convert to CDI. And over all it will do the same but control curves with the arduino instead of flashing the 12F683.

Here's an email I received from an (unknown ) fella on a different site- may be useful in this here project! (Lots of other cool geeky scooter stuff too!) hey i've got a couple programmable ignition boards for vespas laying around. You can have one if you want. Just let me know and I'll mail ya one. It's homebrew, open source. All the schematics and stuff are online.... www.vespalabs.org/openvespa-com/programmable-ignition Right now, what is installed in the box is the ignition controller. But the boxes also have the ability to read 2 K type thermocouples and bluetooth. I can install that too later if you want.

Geeze...you fellows keep going like this and Honda is going to hire all of you and we won't have any adjustable CDI's.

That is what happened to the 200mpg carburetor. The oil companies bought it and buried it. LOL

Well got a later start then I wanted the wife and kids wanted to do something for my Birthday ugh lol here is a short video of a made up rpm with a simple code just to flash the timing light the arduino is protected by an optoisolator took a little while to get it to interrupt the 555 timer which is set up to give a 5-10 Millisecond pulse that is put threw the gate of a MOSFET that will discharge the HV capacitor to the primary of the coil.

Thank you!!!! And I just thought of something that may be an issue to some of you with the arduino you will have to turn the key on and wait a second for it to boot lol
