As some know from a previous post I'v have acquired little gem after your typical CL runaround. This is my first Morini based scooter. The bad:I purchased it 60% disassembled. Seeing I wasn't the one that took it apart its going to be fun piecing it back together. When I picked it up, the previous owner couldn't find the keys.(Been in contact, he is looking for them) I hope he finds them. Iv been looking for a ignition replacement(TGB #440996) price tag 130+ The stock airbox is MIA(after being told everything was there) Throttle cable is half missing(at the split to 2 cables) Found a replacement(think the Key West model will work) He also remove the injector oil tank assembly(TGB #412202)and chucked it out. Told me he was in the process in making it a "race" scooter. Lost the injector pump drive gear(TGB #GA508PL01). Broke one of the oil fittings that's on the intake manifold. There is a wine cork plugging the oil injector pump hole. The pipe fell off on the drive home in the back of the truck after being told he torqued all the bolts correctly. He did all the engine work, I cringed at the thought of that(with before mentioned handy work). I plan on tearing the engine down and going thru it myself The good:(so far)
I tore the ignition apart and was able to turn it on(digital/analog dash) Milage: 85 Miles
Electrically the turn signals, hazard flashers, horn, and starter work.(wooo hooo) Claims to have a new Malossi 70cc kit(not ran yet) The base of the cyl says 49.5cc on it. So who knows. For starters: I know a couple folks here( Jwhood , triesandluth , pinkscoot ) have had some experience with this model and I will be picking your brains for a little help. Iv found the owners manual and some what of a service manual. Would really like to find a service manual that covers that model from fender to fender.(I need something to put all the pieces back together. I also need sources for parts. Thanks in advance. So let the fun begin.

Congratulations GSX. I'm waiting for a new flywheel from Taiwan to get mine going. There are several good eBay sources for parts and you can still get parts from TGB USA I dealt with Alan Tang there. If they don't have the part in stock its up to 3 months to get it. Be careful dealing with Peirspeed on Ebay, I got a kick starter that was not the right one, he did take it back but be sure its the part you need. You don't need to go any further then this site for the manual. I wish you luck with this scoot, I can't wait to get mine on the road.

I remember you mentioning in my other post about the cranks going bad, could you elaborate ? I have a email out to Pierspeed, but no response in regards to a few parts. Thanks for the input.

I planed on running premix but I do have concerns about lubrication. The injection system sent oil to the crank bearings and if I switch to premix I wonder if there will be an issue with the crank bearings not getting enough lubrication. Note the cork plug where the pump gear was. Im going to be the first to use a wine bottle opener on a scooter engine. LOL

The premix should be fine for lubrication of the bearings,I haven't had side effects from deleting the oil pump, the crank issue is that it will snap in 1/2 I'm guessing bad steel cause old crank is designed the same as updated one,I cut a piece of sheet metal and put sealant on it and bolted it down over oil pump hole I'm about to semi break down my engine and fix a few things in the next few days, use good exhaust bolts cause both of mine failed now I have to get the 2nd broke stud out and fix holes with a heli coils or time serts,I have a polini kit I've been wanting to try but its not liquid cooled its a.c but they seem to do a little better then the malossi power wise

Well I spent some time getting a little more acclimated with my new toy. I will say all though it has very low miles this scoots needs some TLC. I was told by the previous owner it had a Malossi 70cc kit...... NOT. Its 70cc but far from Malossi quality. I am so glad I pulled the cylinder off. Not really liking how thin the cylinder skirts are. First there was this catch. Not sure but I think the person that installed the kit used anti seize as assembly lube. I sorted through the Tupperware container of hardware and organized things some and stared reassembling things. needless to say I had to make my first trip to the hardware store. I managed to get the gas tank, bracket above the tank, rear wing, rear tail light/signals/fender assembly and the 2 rear side panels reinstalled. I also reinstalled the kick stand and drained the gear oil. It had a few sparklies in it but wasn't bad. More to come.

Looks like it's going to be a pretty nice scoot! IIRC these have rear disk brake also?
EDIT: Yup I see the disk on the rear there. Nice!

gsx600racer , here is a link to a Tech Bulletin on the 2006 TGB. Note the original and the fixes. Though I have a 2007 my crank went bad and it trashed the Stator and flywheel. Here is a Parts Manual that I've used to confirm the parts I'm ordering. The numbers did change from year to year as they made improvements. Just be careful that you get the right part for your year. I have a good stator and bought a flywheel on eBay. It didn't work with that stator as I found out from TGB USA. It sounds like you are on the right track.

Seems I have a pre-tech bulletin model. I wonder how long the old cranks last seeing this one has less than 100 miles on it.

I've got parts bikes if you need engine parts Thanks moofus02 I will keep that in mind. I did get the scooter with the oil tank missing, no throttle cable, and at the time I picked it up the previous owner couldn't find the keys. So an ignition/lock set might be needed. I was able to disassemble the the ignition lock assembly and was able to pull the tumbler so I might be able to re-key it.

I think I've got a lock set and oil tank and 2 complete drum brake motors What is the connector look like on the lock set ? Do you have the matching lock for the battery cover too ? What do want for a set ? I purchased a couple blank keys. I am going to try to make my own key first. Will call the previous owner tomorrow to see if he has found them, I am beginning to wonder. Sorta becoming BS.
