Yay, so I foond a good deal on a Yamaha Zuma 125 last Friday, so I had to rush straight after work to go get it! Got a uhaul trailer and drove doon to California, picked her up, and drove home all by 4am... heh. Love road trips.
It's a 2009 and almost like new condition. Only 470 miles on the odo, so not even broken in. Need oil and filter change asap, and look for aftermarket upgrades... heh
resting at home...

Very nice. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Yamaha after a bit of riding, compared to your Vespas.

^^ absolutely, Brent. I wanna use the Zuma for mostly off-road (minor) action... mostly fire roads and the like.

Welp, I just called Yamaha USA, and my Zuma 125 is on the recall list... eeeek. Well, at least they put in a new fuel pump for free, I suppose. Anyone else have a recall for this model??

The 125 has had an issue with the fuel pump overheating since day one. Only really happens during long drives and if it doesn't restart after turning it off then all you have to do is wait for 15-20 minutes. Which is inconvenient but not the worst thing in the world.

So, I finally had a chance over the weekend to ride her more than several feet...
Holy smokes this thing is soooo cramped!!! Am I really that fat, or is this thing so cramped at the helm?? wtf Seriously, it's almost dangerous how cramped it is. You're almost steering with your elbows, and there is NO foot space (size 10)! You can't place your feet forwards or rearwards... incredible. The Zuma 50 feels like a limo compared to this (well... not really, but you get what I'm sayin'...) Well, I guess I better get used to it...
btw, does anyone use like foot pegs on their Zumas? I thought I seen some aftermarket pillion pegs, and some "highway" pegs??

They didnt recall it to put a two stroke engine in? What a bloody shame... I'd just try to flip it after reading your above comments.

Aww, really? You think I should sell it?
But there aren't too many off-road able scoots to choose from... Got this for fire roads and such.

Well, you say its too cramped. Why not sell it and build you own offroad scoot then? The only thing you need is longer travel shocks and some coarse tires. You could have some lengtened forklegs made and buy a longer rear shock? It only takes some inventive Thinking since you're going the diy path instead of the plug and play path.
You have like 3 vespa's right? Why not sell the zuma and source another piaggio based scoot like a gilera runner 180cc and go from there?
